It's funny that you mentioned the gore Oldman because I noticed the very same thing. There isn't any blood in the original Halloween but the mood, the soundtrack and a truly unstoppable menace add to the film's suspense. Also, I recently saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original) again and noticed that there is hardly any blood in that movie as well. I'm sure it's a common misconception that the original TCM is a bloodbath.
