There is no doubt Argento has had a huge impact on the genre, and [as I previously stated] I have much respect for that. It comes down to a matter of taste, and there's other directors I enjoy much more.
As far as Fulci goes, I believe you hit the nail on the head. His work is raw, sleasy, at times silly.....but it has an unmistakable charm to it. Zombi II is a classic. The splinter through the eye scene makes me cringe to this day.:khead:
you do have a good point about the sound mixes in his movies to be distracting sometimes very much so
as do i there more directors i do enjoy more than argento who sadly is losing his brillant touch with his more recent projects that too could end up hurting his legacy as well
exactly a classic example of fulci's silliness is from new york ripper with the killers duck voice which i love so much hahaha and yet it has a certain disturbing quality about it also to the sleaze factor is at its highest here
