The acting is the strongest quality of The Last Exorcism, really good and strong performances from the main characters. I liked the angle the story took here, and it worked great. I don't have an issue with the final act, but at the same time, I wasn't surprised by the ending either.
My issue is when you have a "found footage" film such as this that gives off a "realistic" vibe; then the characters should make realistic, or rational decisions. It was really frustrating that Cotton kept going back and sticking around. Yes, I realize that he was out to debunk exorcisms and reveal them for what they were.
But, anyone in their right mind would eventually get the message that they need to get the hell out. I just can't stand when writers make stupid, absurd & unrealistic character choices. The last 30 minutes I was rolling my eyes.
5.5/10 for me.
