CrimsonVixen999246 Days of Horror - Review Count down to the End of Days!
#14
Heyy Guys, sorry about the huge delay! My internet was down, but that didn't stop me from getting those movies watched Tongue

Day #8 - From Hell (2001) IMDB Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120681/

" You think I was born a whore? Oh that's right, England doesn't have whores, just a great mass of very unlucky women."
9/10 - Rewatch
'From Hell' is a Victorian era Gothic fiction about Jack the ripper. It stars Johnny Depp as the detective looking for the ripper, and Heather Graham as the leading lady. A group of prostitutes (unfortunates) are being harassed by their pimp for unheard of amounts of money when their introduced, but before they are able to come up with it, they start dying one-by-one in a mysterious fashion. After being killed their reproductive organs were removed, and bodies left brutally maimed. This leads the inspector (Depp) to believe that an educated man committed the murders, and he falls for one of the prostitutes. things escalate from there, and the endings decent. Good amount of gore, suspense, and excellent acting. Great period piece, great story. Basically I loved it, and I only have good stuff to say (:

Day # 9 Children of the Corn (1984) IMDB Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087050/

" Isaac started the whole thing. He's a boy preacher who came to this town three years ago. At nine-years-old back then, he had a charming way that appealed to all the kids and teens like us to follow him with his own teachings of the bible and of the Old Testiment. But me and Sarah thought he was just plain weird. "
8/10 - Rewatch
Nothing like a bit of good old religious perversion to scare the crap outta you! Add in a ton of creepy kids and some rusty farm equipment and you have a classic. I read the original short story by Stephen King in his compilation book " Night Shift" and i'll admit, the story was much more terrifying and the ending was way better. But still, the movie packs a punch. It starts out with a young boy narrating as he and his father stop at a diner after church when the kids in the town turn on the townspeople, killing all adults. Then it fast forwards to a young couple on vacation, who get lost and end up in Gatlin, the small town from the opening scene. They also hit a dying child with their car, hence the need to stop in the spooky little town. The rest of the movie is an alice in wonderland scenario, where we take the blue pill and run down the rabbit hole of corrupt religion and how dangerous weak minds can be. If you haven't seen it yet, you should! Watch it with your parents for an extra level of suspense. And grin often, they'll be having nightmares for weeks!!

Day # 10 - Deep Blue Sea (1999) IMDB Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0149261/

"No, what you've done is taken God's oldest killing machine and given it will and desire. What you've done is knocked us all the way to the bottom of the goddamn food chain. It's not a great leap forward in my book."

The 90's were my childhood, and this film happened to be my first movie theater experience. I was only six, and my little sister was four. After two weeks of me begging to go, and my lil sis pleading too my mother finally buckled and brought us to see it. It scared my sister so much, she literally pooped her pants. I didn't want to leave, so she called up our babysitter, and she showed up 20 minutes later to stay with me while I finished the film. It's a shark movie, based around a group of researchers in an underwater facility. Samuel L. Jackson & LL cool J are in it, and it actually adds a lot to the film. The premise is that the researchers are attempting to harvest a protien complex in the shark's brain that is believed to cure Alzheimers Disease. When they are suddenly forced to prove the complex works, months ahead of schedual, an accident occurs that starts off a deadly chain reaction that puts humans at the bottom of the food chain. I love it, but I think my opinion is a bit biased on this one Tongue

Day #11 Red State (2011) IMDB Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0873886/

"People just do the strangest things when they believe they're entitled. But they do even stranger things when they just plain believe."
8/10 - First Watch
This film was written and directed by Kevin Smith, who isn't too experienced with the genre, but did a fantastic job nonetheless. The movie starts off with introducing one of the three lead boys who is being held up in traffic by a group of religious crazies waving signs at a kids funeral that say "God Hates Fags", protesting the fact that he was being buried in a Christian cemetery. He gets to school and we meet the other two boys, and get more details on the fanatics by the teacher. The three decide to use the internet to find a lady to sleep with them and SUPRISE! She's not like her picture at all, Go figure. What I really enjoyed about this film was it's raw feeling. Honestly, it feels so real when your watching it, from every perspective (P.O.V. varies a lot). A team of police and S.W.A.T. are involved at one point, and the way they act, speak, and work was scary realistic. It's thought provoking, gory and frightening if you live in the southern regions of America. This film is not for the faint of heart, but a treat for a good horror story lover.

Day #12 Sabbath Day! Original & Remake Prom Night

The Original - 1980 IMDB Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081383/

"Listen to me, we'll go home now and never ever tell anyone. No one but us will ever know."
9/10 - Re watch
Ahh, a good old classic on Sunday. Okay, so it starts off with a bunch of little kids playing in an abandoned school. They're playing a creepy as hell game called murderer. I think it's a form of group tag, except they yell KILL KILL KILL!@! So, a young blonde in braids joins up with them wanting to talk to one of the young boys, her sister runs off and she ends up falling out of a window by 'accident'. They make an oath to never say anything, and a local man gets pinned for it. Before he has a chance to clear his name, the cops 'accidentally' cause him to crash his car, hideously disfiguring him. The movie fast forwards to the kid's prom night, they're all graduating and a masked killer hunts them down one-by-one. Now, there's still a lot to the plot, and the movie but I don't want to completely ruin all the little surprises, but this will help me destroy the remake, because it sucked. Anyhow, Jamie Lee Curtis is the leading Lady who did a wonderful job, slick dance moves too Tongue Great ending, decent death scenes.

The Remake - 2008 IMDB Link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0926129/

"Three years ago... a high school teacher got obsessed with a female student... He went psycho!... He's been in a maximum security prison until three days ago."
3/10 - First (and Only) Watch
And that's the whole plot ^^. Honestly, I really hated this. Brittany Snow was pathetic and ditzy. So were all the victims. Honestly, it was just pure 'fluff' for dialogue, and the plot had no heart beat. No back story, or sub plots or anything. I watched it all the way through waiting for something to happen....then the credits rolled Sad

Today! Day#13 Funny Games (2007) IMDB Link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808279/

"Whether by knife or whether by gun, losing your life can sometimes be fun."
10/10 - First watch

There's so much to say! This film stands out in so many ways, and it's just so bloody entertaining! So the premise of the film is that a family of three is terrorized by two young men while on vacation at their lake house. But it's all the little details that made me fall in love. First off, the movie features virtually no score. Two songs are used, periodically throughout the film. No background music, no sound FX just the music played by the characters on their radio. It heightened the suspension of disbelief, until the main terrorizer breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to the audience half way through. He does this a few times, and even rewinds the film at one point. The two terrorizers are white clad young men with golfing gloves on, who are very clockwork orange reminiscent with changing names and stories every ten minutes. The best part about the whole movie is the undertones of 'polite society', and how the whole mess was over a few eggs. An ending worth remembering, a few good scares and good gore. I think there's a bit of everything in this, Definitely suggest it!
