Shellshock... shellshock for some minutes and then a renewed desire to run... Had the others grouped up yet??! Was Briggs a damn straggler?? If so he was next to damned... Middle of day fucking 2 and he was holding back the group dynamic! Briggs swung himself from behind trees to under rocks for a good bit, just searching for someone to hug or to plug...
Instead, someone found him, and they sure as hell weren't looking to hug.
No, when he stopped somewhere conveniantly close just to listen for others, a pair of hands sprung from behind him and pulled a wire around his neck!
Strangler: DANIELLL!
While Briggs tried to put his hands around the garrote, a boy sprung like a madman from behind a tree, clutching a carving knife! Daniel charged forward, the thing sticking out like a shark through the water-- The person behind him was a tough bastard, wouldn't budge with even broad swings to the side, and with the other approaching fast, the only way to go, was down.
Briggs jumped up and put himself into a ball, becoming dead weight just before Daniel struck-- The other kid didn't let go of the wire, he came down with Briggs. Daniel's knife tore the space where Briggs's gut used to be: the strangler's eye.
Strangler: AAAAAGH!!!
Daniel: I'm sorry Adam, I'm sorry!!!
Strangler: KILL HIM DANIELL!!
Adam did not let go of the wire as it tugged tighter into Briggs's neck, making him now lightheaded, near-choking. Luckily for him as Daniel gathered himself for another strike, Adam had been disabled enough by his injury that he weakened in pain! Now, Briggs was able to thrash from side to side, keep Daniel from getting a good target, and all the while try and wrestle himself from the grip of death... To speed things up, Briggs took one thumb and rammed it in the strangler's yet unhurt good eye! As Briggs pressed his digit to the floor, Adam finally gave into pain, allowing his "victim" to break free!
Adam: FUCKING KILL HIM, DANIEL!!!
Briggs scuttled to get his bag back, but Daniel had other plans since he now had a much easier target. He went for Briggs like a psycho again, leaving few options for retaliation since Briggs had foolishly re-packed both his guns... Briggs pulled the pickaxe from the back of his shirt and swung it...
Only the shaft hit Daniel as Daniel got close enough to plunge his blade into the side of Briggs's belly. The scene became a carousel of screams as Daniel and Briggs comically circled each other, Daniel wriggling the knife, Briggs trying to use the axe... At last, success for the latter when, seemingly trying to gut his opponent, Daniel slid to the ground. The screams had now subsided from both parties, leaving a short, indecisive silence for a blind man. Briggs struck the blow to end it, the axe embedded in the throat space lying between the main skull and jaw. Silence.
Adam: Daniel.... Daniel, you got the bitch!
Briggs: ...What's your favorite horror movie?
Adam: OH, FUCK!
No real response from Adam; Just more "oh fuck"s as he simply stumbled up and started running away, hitting trees as he went... Oddly, it was a kindred experience... The feeling of fighting and running away was like a drug to Briggs...
...But not something he wanted to share. He realized that what had to be done had to be done as he pulled the uzi from the bag, and pulled the trigger in the general direction of the blind man...
Briggs: A-Allright... Allright, we got adam and Daniel, w-we need a Jeff... i- IS THERE A JEFF IN THE HOUSE??
...No. And it at last occurred to Briggs what an idiot he was for yelling in the--
Another sound...
