I think you hear his middle name in the extended original as well, when they're talking about his trial

Yea, that is more or less the exact words that Akkad said about Halloween 3. No Michael Myers = NOT Halloween! Or, for the Computer geeks; No Michael Myers != Halloween Smile

And yes, in the extended release DVD of Halloween 1, they added in a portion where they said "Michael Audry Myers will be tried for blah blah blah" and they show him in the Hospital.
