I don't think it holds a candle to the original, but yeah -- I did like it a lot when I saw it in the theater. I probably like it less and less each time I rewatch it on DVD, but I still dig it. I don't think it's bad at all.

Me neither...
...Most of the time... ...When you don't compare it at all to the original
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

I'm still a Friday fan even though the idea makes me go

. I suppose it has to do with preference of tone/polish, TCM'03 does have a "darker" finish to it though IMO the original has a darker tone.
...Also, Tenebre; not HUGELY impressive and it wasn't what I expected. Still processing the overall product in my mind though...

Halloween, then Friday the 13th (My sister's first time seeing them!)...
...After a while, you almost forget what classics they are

Just finished watching RED (not really horror, but the novel it's based on was written by a horror writer, so I figured it was worth mentioning).
Revisiting NEAR DARK now. What a great film . . . .

Killer Klowns From Outer Space!
We were up at "the top of the world" and we saw this shooting star and we decided to go look for it. But instead of finding the shooting star we saw this... this circus tent. And that's when we went inside, and that is when we saw those people in those... those pink, cotton candy cocoons. Dave, it was not a circus tent. It was something else.
