Four teenage kids from the tiny mining town of Gold Lick vandalize a nineteen-century cemetery of Chinese laborers when one of them disturbs a demon who's been guarding the souls of 100 workers killed in a cave-in. Jeff, the surviving teen, goes in search of his hero, over-the-hill B-movie star, Bruce Campbell. Jeff kidnaps the actor and brings him to Gold Lick to save the town. Bruce thinks it's a birthday treat engineered by his agent, so he plays along, humoring the townsfolk and chatting up Jeff's unimpressed mom. Bodies pile up as the demon slashes. What will the sorry, boozy Bruce do when he realizes that Guan-Di, the demon, is for real?
Haven't seen this yet, but random factoid: Before this was even released it had like 1,000 votes on IMDb giving it about a 9.3/10... Though the premise is clever I kind of doubt it was all that X)
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ
I saw it here in Chicago when Campbell was actually there giving commentary and Q&A. If you've seen "The Three Amigos", you know the plot.
The acting is cheesy, the story is absurd and effects are awful. basically, it's great. One thing to keep in mind is this isn't the type of movie you sit down by yourself with to watch. This is one of those movies you watch with a group of horror and Campbell fans to get the full experience....hard to explain.

The fact that Bruce is so full of himself in the first half but he keeps finding quick slurs against Guan Di is my favorite parts of the movie. That and the two gay store owners.
This was a great film.

I am all for a sequel just so long as they keep Bruce as an egotistical dick.
