I just watched Quarantine on DVD. Freaking awesome. Jennifer Carpenter is really good in it. Most of the characters are semi-believable. There's a little something for you gore fans, a story line and some jump out at you scares. There is no music to hide behind for the buildup. No increase in tempo when the bad guy approaches. It is shot by a slightly jiggling camera, but no problems here with the motions and I'm prone to motion sickness, nowhere near as bad as Cloverfield or Blair Witch Project. I was worried there would not be any closure, but that wasn't a problem. There was also an explanation, no matter how brief. Spoilers ahead...WARNING! WARNING!
And, it's a zombie flick. When a woman is shot twice in the chest and winds up getting back up, it has to be zombies. Once the head/brain has been destroyed, they stay down. Max Brook's style, to an extent. They are infected, although none of them die from that, they all die from injury. And, they are fast zombies.:zombie::zombie:
(Okay, mods, if I put this in the wrong spot, move it. But, I did watch it on t.v. )

I dug this one. Dude at the end was fuckin' creepy, and a lot that was unsaid in the movie is said through actions. And the camera work really didn't annoy me at all. Oh, and YES they WERE zombies!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the authority on this one, trust me :zombie:

I wouldn't consider it a remake, honestly. If I remember correctly, this movie was in the early stages when [REC] was just finishing up. Yes, they were zombies. I'll definitely agree with that.

Okay, I've had a little time to think about it. There are a few things that bother me:
1. If you had a rabid dog outside of your house, would you run out there empty handed? (Unless you're the people in Kujo.) Even a floor lamp would have been nice.
2. If you had something moving around on the floor above you, do you think you would hear it?
3. Zombies are attacking from inside your house, let's run upstairs? I'm sure there was a reason, but I missed it.
4. We're going through a dark room, trying to sneak. We have night vision capabilities. Let's keep the spot light on?
I still like the movie. But, nothings perfect.

It's been a little bit since I've seen it, but I'll try to help you with the questions.
1. I'm not sure about this question. Are you talking about the rabid dog that was upstairs and attacked the one guy? I don't think they knew that dog was there.
2. Most likely. Are you talking about the end? With the extremely neglected zombie that swiped at the camera? If so, that thing was so skinny I think a mouse would have made more noise walking around. When it was in the same room with them, you basically couldn't hear it actually walking around (if i remember correctly), you could only hear it knocking stuff over. I think when it was in the attic, it mostly stayed idle, anyway.
3. I think they were running upstairs to find a set of keys, or something. They were desperately searching for a way out. By the time they found the set of keys, they realized there were a good bit of zombies downstairs and some were actually making their way up the stairs. Therefore, they didn't want to risk running down them. I mean, the majority of the people were downstairs, so when they turned to zombies, they didn't have much of a choice except for going upstairs. It was a bad choice, but it was one of their very limited options.
4. He was keeping the spotlight on so people besides himself could actually see what's going on. Near the end, the camera light actually screwed up from when he was bashing that zombie with his camera. He turned the spotlight off, and turned the night vision on. From that point forward he could only say what was happening. No one could actually see anything except for him. That makes things way more difficult. I would prefer he have the spotlight on no matter what was going on, unless my life entirely depended on it. With the light on, you could at least see what was in the room with you, and get prepared for it.
I tried to answer those questions the best I could. I may have misunderstood some, though. Either way, it will lead to interesting discussion.

The kicker is the weapons thing. Who wouldn't grab a weapon? Even a butchers knife is better than bare hands.

I would use anything & everything as a weapon.

Cats are scary. I say they can definitely be a weapon. I would go for something with reach. A sturdy floor lamp, maybe, at last temporarily. Go for the cop. Then, you get a gun.
