tonight was the first time i seen it, it was not what i expected,alot of walking throgh the woods and alot more nonsence but they di a good job at keepn you entertained the ending was strange caught me offgaurd and i think it was to quik one minute youre in the middle of a movie and the next it was over, but dont get me wrong loved the movie good storyline, all in all pretty good movie.

Okay guys, here I go again.
I don't know if any of you are old enough to have heard about this movie when it first came out. When it was first released, it was advertised as a true story. You didn't see the actors on the red carpet. In fact, it was released at Cannes Film Festival and they put up missing person posters for the people in the movie and were listed on IMDB as "missing, presumed dead." Second, there was no other movie out there like it. It has since been imitated (Cloverfield), but not duplicated. Now, we all know more about it & you probably watched it knowing it was fake. We didn't know. Realistically, you kinda knew they wouldn't release a movie of these people's last days. But, you weren't sure. Look at the news today. And, the producers said it was real.
Anyway, the story line is interesting. The actor's really lived it. The vast majority of the movie is improv. They truly had no clue what was going to happen to them at night. They really went without supplies until the next bag was left for them. Although there were people out in the woods with them, they never knew where.
No, not a shining example of the perfect movie. But, truly unique in the genre at the time.

The way it was shot, and the way it was publicized made it VERY unique for it's time. Damn, now I feel old Hehe.
I seriously guess ya had to be there. And if ya was, and didn't like it, I think it's because the movie is kinda like Jaws. In Jaws, not seeing the shark often, like it was stalking right behind you, made it scary in your head. I think that Blair Witch played on the imagination, if you thought of it in a way that was scary, it was.

I think they did the "handheld element" quite skillfully, like it would be if it actually were truthful. Some figured it was real, others knew it was fake, but the filmmakers really did good in making it look real.

The movie is only 10 years old, lol. It's not like this took place in the 70's or something . I did see it when I was pretty young, though. We're talking before I was a teen, lol. Anyways, I remember all the shit surrounding this movie. All the kids at school were talking about it, people were talking about it, etc... I remember some people thought it was real, some didn't, yada yada.

Either way, I made the mistake of seeing this movie in theaters. The movie had some genius marketing behind it. Yes, it was unique. However, that does not make it good. It was a horrible movie. I honestly can't really remember anyone that I talked to back then who did like the movie. If I remember correctly, people were walking out of the theater, talking shit, etc... I actually thought the blair witch project 2 was a better movie, and it sucked too. That tells you how I feel about BWP.

Okay, kiddies
I was 21 when this one came out. (Yes, I'm telling my age to those of you that can add) As such, I was better able to put myself in their place, being scared & lost & freaked out in the woods. When you're younger, it's harder to imagine the more adult themes that are going on. And, it's never the same when you re-watch it at an older age. So, the best idea is to agree to disagree, yet again.

There are all types of horror fans. It's nice to have a mix.
