Hey, I promise you something amazing, something you'll never forget. Where's the gratitude?

I think I probably would've liked Freddy Vs Jason even less if Hodder was in it. It's not that I absolutely hated FvJ to begin with, but Jason was a total pussy in it. Being afraid of puddles and basically having his ass handed to him by Freddy throughout the whole movie. If Hodder had been attached, the guy that basically kicked ass as Jason from part seven through Jason X, it'd probably seem like he'd gone soft or something. The Jason character already felt that way at least Hodder got to move on to other projects with some dignity.

I really didn't have an issue with who played Jason as much as I did with how the character was written in the story. He wasn't intimidating at all, and got his ass kicked. I blame the writers.
So yeah, I agree with Chris here - no matter who played Jason, the result would've been the same. CarolinePar Wrote:to be fair everyone, FvJ was still better than Jason X... ![]() No doubt about that, Caroline.

Not for me. I'd honestly say I thought Jason X was more of a Friday movie than FVJ just as Freddy's Dead was more of a Nightmare movie than FVJ. Sure FVJ was more down-to-Earth, but it lacked the soul of both series if you ask me; it had neither the creativity or relatability of "Nightmare" movies nor the suspense or palpable violence of "Friday" movies.
@ Chainsaw Brute and Creamy Goods - Good call. Even if Kane played Jason, the writers would still have room to muck things up. I personally think FVJ was flawed from the start, but there were ways of pulling it off a lot better than it truly was. As it stands, for all that the script was lacking in spirit they may as well have replaced Englund.

FvJ felt like more of a Nightmare movie to me mostly due to Freddy owning Jason's ass the majority of the film, the amount of time spent in the dream world, and Hypnocil playing a big part in the movie. Feeling like a Nightmare film is a bad way to put it though because it didn't necessarily feel like the Nightmare films before it. Influenced by maybe? Tipped its hat to? The ball was definitely in Freddy's court the entire movie.

I revisited this movie about a year or so ago and my initial bitterness has worn off. It's not bad but there are some scenes that shouldn't have been in there. I loved the battle sequence and how they connected the two franchise. the fact that they play off each other's fears was also good.

I didn't like how it was taken to the extreme though. It's not like Freddy whimpered every time somebody lit a match in the previous ANOES movies and Jason didn't start hugging his knees and rocking back and forth every time he had to step over a puddle. The movie isn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought that some of the potential sequel ideas were more interesting than the way the movie played out.

That's the biggest fault that I found in the movie was that in both Jason's and Freddy's movies, they were able to go in the water or walk through flames without flipping a shit. They only added in that fear for that movie, which was a major downside to it.

Maaaaan. Fuck Jason Takes Manhattan. That shit does not count.

So that means Jason was a little kid at the beginning of Jason Takes Manhattan? When he was in the water since a whole movie ago? Freddy vs. Jason makes me angery ._.

It used to. Especially that damn scene where the stoners see Freddy as a giant blunt, cockroach or worm or whatever.

I started a film with Kane Hodder in called Exit 33 yesterday. It was so damn bad I had to turn it off. He must have been doing someone a favor because this was one cheap looking POS.... I don't know if I'd have liked Jason fighting Freddy any better with him in it... I think I'm one of the only people who can enjoy it as daft fun anyway.
