TAMPA, Fla. (June 28, 2009)âTV pitchman Billy Mays, known for his energetic hawking of such products as Orange Glo and OxiClean, was found dead Sunday at his home in Tampa, Fla.
Mayâs wife, Deborah, found her husbandâs body.
She said the family doesnât expect to make any public statement and asked for privacy.
There was no evidence of a break-in, and investigators donât suspect foul play in the death.
An autopsy could be completed Monday.
The Web site TMZ.com is reporting that Mays was struck in the head by something that fell from a luggage rack during a rough landing Saturday aboard a U.S. Airways flight.
The planeâs front tire blew out after the jet touched down.
Fox told a Tampa TV station something struck him in the head, TMZ reported.
He reportedly wasnât wearing a seatbelt at the time of the landing.

I didn't exactly find it funny, I just don't care when strangers die when it doesn't effect me personally. I mean, people die every minute or second or something everyday, and if a celebrity dies, people get really upset. I find that strange. Maybe it's because it's death on such a huge scale, and it reminds so many people of their own mortality or something. Ya know, a homeless kid dying on the streets is something that is truly sad, and it happens A LOT more than celebrity's popping off. Don't see a nation crying for them, only ignoring them. Fuck you society.

I don't find it funny that he died persay, but the joke. People can argue that "it's too soon" but humor, is humor. I don't think it's something we can help as to what kind of humor we have. That's what makes us all unique But your right. When Michael Jackson died, it was and still is a huge deal. Why? Because he made pop albums, and because of the accusations that he touched young boys. When Roy Scheider died, i didn't see so much as a TV spot for him anywhere. It's all in how popular you are, not necessarily what you've done.

Actually I do care when anyone dies, no matter who they are.

How do you live with that? People die every second. I am a very sensitive person, and I HATE the thought of real pain and death. You have to insulate yourself from it, or it will rip you into tiny pieces.

You get sad about family deaths because they're close, you know who they are. Same with celebrities. If there's a celebrity you like you can be affected by their death since you likely know something about who they are and what they could do (Robert Quarry ). Sure there are many people who die, but mostly it goes unnoticed by those except the people who knew them. It's sad, but it often doesn't connect to you, whereas celebrites are connected indirectly to a whole bunch of people.
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

I honestly don't see how a celebrities affects my life in any way. Sure they entertain me, but so do sparkly things, and yes, I am part raven. I guess I just can't connect to celebrities like a lot of people can. Does that make me a bad person? No, seriously, cause I don't know. I just worry about the people I know, and not others. Is that bad? I mean I wouldn't in any way hurt a stranger, but I wouldn't throw myself or a loved one in the path of a bullet for anyone else.
Here is a question I read yesterday............
If you could save the lives of strangers for 100 dollars a piece, how many lives would you save?

Sadly, alot of people in this day and age, wouldn't take the time to save ONE stranger's life for 100 dollars. In modern society, most people would be quicker to say "How about $200?"

I tend to care when someone dies, regardless of who they are, though there's a few people I can think of that I just wouldn't care about at all. I guess I'm overly sensitive, but at the same time, it's the family I'm thinking about. In Billy Mays' case, his wife found him, I can't imagine finding my husband dead, those images would be stuck in my mind for a very long time. He had apparently a 24 year old son and a 3 year old daughter, that's yet another kid who's going to grow up without a father, it's that kind of stuff that makes me sad. Same thing for MJ, he was above all a father, look at all the nasty stuff some people have been writing about him, I feel bad for the kids, I'm hoping they're not allowed on the net without supervision.
I don't think it's the deaths themselves that bother me, it's thinking about the people left behind.

Ya know, in some countries you could save many lives by just sending 5 dollars. I don't now of anyone doing it.

Exactly, I'm sure some countries like Ethiopia or Swaziland (who has the lowest life expectancy of any country) would love to have a gallon of water for their children to drink. But do any of us ever just say fuck it, I'm gonna take $1.50 and buy them a gallon of water from Walmart? Nobody I know does either.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, but all these dying people are soooo heart wrenching!!!!!!! Damn people. Seems a little hypocritical to me. Want to stop hurting because of all of the dying? Save someone. Do something about it. Damn, DEATH is the most natural thing ever in human existence. We ALL do it. 100 percent of us. Does it suck? Kinda.

I agree. No matter who you are death is still a saddening thing.

I think people should stop worrying about dying, and start worrying about living.
