One of my favorite foreign horror films, hard to get ahold of, but definately worth the effort. Any thoughts on the film? More action than horror, but still major ownage.

I'm a big fan of this movie, though I would stay far away from the follow up. It took me forever to find a copy on DVD and when I did I snatched it right up. One interesting thing that I've noticed when I show it to friends is that they either love it or couldn't careless and don't understand what the big deal is. Anyone else have that experience?

GREAT movie! The reason you have such a hard time finding this one is because of the rights issue. I did a video interview with Stephen Biro, who is the owner of Unearthed Films. He approached the original company about purchasing the right for North American distro. They had tried to get a bigger company, but people began whispering in the ear of the film makers about how american parents would target them in lawsuits because of the kid on kid violence.
If you remember, this film was made right before Columbine, so that scared the film makers away from selling the american rights to the film. It really is a shame, because the film has a good political and horror theme to it! REST IN PEACE! "Because I am the Dedman, and you're not!" I just added Battle Royale to my netflix queue. I had been wanting to see this but just wasnt sure. Glad I saw this thread. By the way, if you dont have an account with netflix, you should get one. The selection is huge. There is rarely a title, no matter how obscure it may be, that they dont have. It also becomes a great tool for finding more movies.

âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

Ok, I finally watched Battle Royale. It was sitting next to my TV for like a month. Holy shit. It was sick, twisted, awesome! Here is my write up - (more philosophical than review I guess) - Battle Royale: Sit Down and Shut Up! :

it was a good film but im not into subtitles.
We were up at "the top of the world" and we saw this shooting star and we decided to go look for it. But instead of finding the shooting star we saw this... this circus tent. And that's when we went inside, and that is when we saw those people in those... those pink, cotton candy cocoons. Dave, it was not a circus tent. It was something else.
