Me and gore just got back from seeing H2. I'm still not sure if I love it or not. It's a great movie, but there's a couple of things that really bothered me about it. Dr Loomis bothered me a bit, there's a few things that just seem too far out for the character. I'm trying not to spoil the movie for anyone here.
On the other hand, I was very impressed by the sound throughout the movie, I honestly cannot think of another movie that really compares, sound wise. Every knife stab makes you feel like you're standing right next to it.
There's a couple of dream scenes, the first one is especially impressive.
All around I think it's definitely worth seeing. There's a lot more pros than cons.

I plan on going to see it very soon. Which do you like better, H or H2?

It depends for what, I don't think I can pick, in some aspects, H is superior, but in others, H2 is superior.

Like I said, I think if this one goes good it could make up for H1 being a lackluster remake by making it it's own product... I kinda like the whole backwoods occultish angle the trailers seem to convey, plus the whole "messied-up" look of MM...
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

I think Rob Zombie tried to show us what he thinks was going on in MM's head, I'm not sure if he succeeded or failed, he did say he wanted to make him more human, but at the same time, I think his vision of that was a bit confusing and it downright got annoying at some point during the movie. There's only so much of his mother in a while dress you can see before it gets annoying.
I think I'm giving up on trying not to spoil it for anyone, I hated what he did with Dr Loomis. He wrote a book, that flat out outed Laurie as MM's sister, she picked up the book, saw her picture and flipped out, to me that just pushed the character of Dr loomis a little too far, I think it's what I had the biggest problem with, Rob Zombie actually found a way to make MM more human than Dr Loomis, it just felt wrong, until the last 5 minutes of the movie, Rob Zombie succeeded in making Dr Loomis completely heartless and careless, it just doesn't seem to fit. Sure it's his movie, he can do whatever he wants, but at the same time, it didn't seem to match, character evolution wise, even with the first movie.

Went to see it Monday night. I actually liked it a lot. I liked how Rob Zombie did whatever he wanted with it. It's kind of refreshing to see an ordinary sequel again after all of these reboots (God I hate that word).

I still haven't seen it, but my expectations are low.
Almost (ALL) ratings are low ratings, for his piece of shit flicks.

I hated this movie so much, even more than the first remake because it was too disorienting and it was a mess. It was everywhere, and some of the dream sequences were so LSD induced and the BEST part of the movie was a dream. I hated that Laurie was no longer innocent and a victim but rather a slut and a bitch who whines and drinks.
But, what I hated above all was that Loomis was a dick and that all he cared about was money when the REAL Loomis understood Michael and wanted to help Laurie with or without money. He ruined Loomis' character.

Plus, why do I need to know Michael's back story? In the immortalized words of Mike Dougherty... the less you know about your killer, the more frightening he is.

I'll agree. This one was actually worse than his first attempt. I know which part you're talking about and I was highly disappointed when that turned out to be a fucking dream. At that point, the movie immediately started going down hill.
I really thought he took the Laurie character in a very weird direction. One thing that usually never works in a movie is when someone gets drunk for the first time or if they have to act like they're completely hammered. When Laurie was acting all drunk and stupid it was.... Well, stupid. It was unbelievable and stupid.
Loomis' character was annoying as fuck. I don't even know why he showed him so much. I mean, he didn't really do anything significant. MOST of his scenes we could have done without. Hell, the we could have done without him for the whole movie.

I saw H2 the other day. I expected to HATE it. And I ended up not hating it. I'm not sure if I liked it, per se, but it wasn't nearly as terrible as the first. I think that if this weren't a Halloween movie, it would have been a lot better. Zombie's problem is that he did a hatchet job on characters that we grew up loving. Were this film independent of any franchise, then I don't think it would suffer from so much criticism.
And I totally agree with the comment about the sound. The stabbings were terrific.

Well, the movie was like being in a drug trip. I think Zombie made this movie like a music video and that's not something you're supposed to do. It worked for House of 1000 Corpses but not with Halloween... not with Halloween.

lol true.
He was giggin on some shrooms lol.

My take on how it all went down -
Whilst taking some shrooms Rob Zombie imagined Sherri Moon bouncing up n down on a white horse's floppy cock, only to bend over and allow little Mikey to stuff it deep inside of her yucky anus hole.
So that's how he got the idea of the white horse, and the faggoty as little Mikey Myers. lol.
