Based on Clive Barker's "Book of Blood" wraparound story,
which focused on a psychic researcher,
who employs a fake medium to investigate a haunted house,
where the said-medium actually gets visited by real ghosts.
These spirits attack him and carve words in his flesh,
which eventually form the rest of the stories in the collection,
and leading to a literal living book of blood.

- Filmed in Edinburgh, Scotland.
- The film features an all British cast, however, the lead Sophie Ward plays an American character.
- Budgeted at an estimated $5-million.
- Also written by director John Harrison, who has worked with George Romero on various projects, and made his feature directorial debut with the Tales From the Darkside movie in 1990.
- Actor Doug Bradley plays a character named "Tollington," who has been dead for nearly a century, and when living, was an occultist that once occupied the house.
- Fans may remember Doug Bradley as "Pinhead" from the Hellraiser series, and also actor Simon Bamford as the "Butterball Cenobite" from the first two films in the series.
- Other films based on the works in the Books of Blood series are Rawhead Rex, Quicksilver Highway, Candyman, Lord of Illusions, and the upcoming Midnight Meat Train and Pig Blood Blues.
- Based on the wraparound "Book of Blood" short story that served as an introduction in Clive Barker's Books of Blood horror series.

LOL Butterball returns! XD

I think this would be better with more than just the wrap, just a guy with a book carved on him is kind of "light" IMO o.O

Neither did I, but I do think it would be a great frame for an anthology, not so much a story of it's own...
