BojanglesA Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) - Discussion for those whom have seen it. SPOILERS!!
#1
I just got back from seeing this, along with Psycho Stitch. I think it was alright. It definitely could have been better, but it could have been a whole hell of a lot worse.

P.S. Will discuss more as I get some more time to do-so.

It was decent. A lot better then rob zombies take on michaels myers backround.

It had a lot of little annoying mistakes that is inexcusable for a big-budget film... especially a remake of a film company's "flagship" film!
Plus, it was missing:
1. Nudity
2. Sex... It wasn't even implied!
3. Smoking
4. Illegal drug use
5. Guts... just blood and slashed skin
6. The sleazy boyfriend getting it on w/a girl while the girlfriend is in the other room.
This movie was so dark, it could have been great... and they screwed it up!

Fact. It blew the Halloween remakes out of the water.

I noticed some of that stuff was missing as well. However, I liked it. It definitely could have been better, but I still enjoyed it. They messed up on a lot of little things. Those teenagers did not even act like high school students. As you said, where was the sex, smoking, drugs, etc...

I just don't understand how none of the kids could not remember going to school with each other and getting molested by the same guy. This maybe platinum dunes worst remake in my opinion.

LOL I hated it.

I thought it was pretty cool how they were all thinking that Freddy wanted to tell them something about how he died. Instead, he just wanted them to remember that he did, in fact, molest them. Big Grin

That was probably one of my bigger problems with the movie. I wonder if there was a scene cut out about how the kids all went into hypnotherapy to make them forget.

I thought that made Freddy into an even bigger bastard. "No, I'm not all sensitive and wanting you to know how I died. I want you to know that I fucked you up for life. Have a nice day."

Oh, and I thought this was an interesting little nugget from director, Samuel Bayer:

Quote:But some of these fans on the web should just get up, stretch, breathe, go outside and get some fresh air, maybe get a girlfriend and just get a life. They should see the movie and make up their own minds.

Can someone please slam this man's junk in a car door. Repeatedly.

I'm a little confused on the quote.

He's basically saying that all the fans who didn't like the movie need to get a life.

Screw him then. There were flaws in the movie.

I think the movie could have been better, but I liked it. I was going to be pissed if it turned out like Halloween 1 & 2 did.

It had a lot of flaws and a weak story. Great kill scenes, but overall, very disappointing for a big-budget horror ($27 million budget). If you're going to remake one of the best horror stories of all time, do it RIGHT!

Seriously tho there were only 3 kills and they all happened in the first half. The rest of the movie was nancy and her boy toy getting chased around.

I know I can't be the only one who didn't really give a fuck about the characters. I wanted the chars to be more like people I would want to hang out with, or at least go to school with, but these motherfuckers were kinda lame.

They gave all the character development to kris and killed her off then brought in nancy and she was jus so blank and flat.

I agree with everything said. I went with my boys and on my left, one laughed his ass off. On my right, the other just sat there with the most uninterested face. Mind you, we're all BIG horror lovers and fans. This was SO inexcusable lol

PLUS at our theater we got these new seats installed called D-BOX and the move with the film. If someone slams something then the chair makes it feel like you got slammed. Or if the camera pans then the chair pans with it. Its really cool but even with the rad 'motion' seats it was 'meh'. The coolest thing was when the chair simulated the car crash. I thought the crash was going to be awesome. MAYBE I'd see some guts spilled everywhere or a caved in skull or someone would die making things more intense, but no.

I still agree that it could have been A LOT worse but it damn sure could've been A LOT better especially with such a massive budget. . . -le sigh-

And all three of us walked out saying, "WHERE WERE THE BOOBS?!!" We love boobs, damnit. I didn't even see a cigarette. . . and if there was one then there might as well of not even been one lol

Still, could've been worse!

What do you mean? You could barely see 1 submerged side boob in the original! >.<
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”
