TerrorScribeDracula... IN 3-D!!!!

OK, I'm conflicted. So, yeah... it's another freakin' remake AND it's in 3-D.

But...

It's Argento in the big chair.

Quote:Legendary Italian horror filmmaker Dario Argento will be trying his hand at Dracula next. Announced at Cannes today, as mentioned briefly in a Tweet (via Bloody-Disgusting), Argento will start filming Dracula in 3D in Italy in January.

I don't support 3D movies.

Gotta say a big plus for Argento, but here we go again with the remakes and the use of 3D as the "hook". Kinda getting old. But money talks and if the 3D is bringing it in, then its gonna be around for a while. Seems like everything is going 3D lately.

I thought Mother of Tears was good, not as good as Argento's earlier works but I got the sensation that he still knew his stuff, although not fully utilizing it; I'm glad he's still making films.

The advice I'd give Dario:
1) make the Dracula legend your own; many have tried to go the "faithful" route to Stoker's story, you should go the Phantom route. Write your own script.

2) Start with the creative direction again! Use overwhelming music, use creepy sounds and voices to your advantage, in this era of abused digital tint, show the morons how to manipulate color! This could be an amazingly atmospheric film, a horror classic if Dario utilizes his old skills with the power of 3D also at his advantage! (imagine Suspiria, nothing changed, but in new-style-3D)
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”

Putting 3D on film like Dracula is sacrilegious. Puting 3D on a film like Piranha is... fun.

Personally, I'm waiting for the remake of "Roemary's Baby" with the new 3-D In-Utero-Cam technology. :yuck:
