Let me see. I was terrified of horror as a child. The first movies that dragged me to the dark side would be....
The Exorcist (Demon possession still freaks me out!)
Nightmare On Elm Street
Neon Maniacs (Big shout out to Mr Briggs for finding the name of this film for me!)
The Fog (Watched this with my sister and brother when I was a child...I hid behind a paper!)
Finally I would have to say the old Hammer Horror films... I love them all but I would have to go with the Dracula films.

Damn Fang, I was happy that I helped you with the Neon Maniacs title before, but considering it's one of your old favorites I'm really, really glad I could help you find out what it was!
As for me, it's a toughie, but these are some definite turning points for me being a horror fan;
Predator - The first big "franchise" I guess I was into. I watched the movies whenever they came on TV and collected the comics, though past Predator 1 & 2 it's really pretty much action-scifi. With the latter point in mind, I guess this spot is shared with the Puppet Master series
Child's Play - This one scared the piss out of me for such a long time I'm embarrassed to say it. Once I faced my fears and got around to watching the first the whole way through, I realized in full force that being scared was fun! I promptly did my best to watch the others in the series as soon as possible.
Fright Night - This is actually probably the movie that got me interested in film in general. For a long-ass time I wanted to make comic books. That dream faded into low-hopes, overwhelming lack of experience and lack of interest, and then I began watching movies on sci-fi. The 80s/early 90s horror comedies especially caught my eye, and Fright Night, to me, was the quintessential example. I don't re-watch films over and over for the most part; Fright Night with it's great pacing, makeup, characters and sets (all terrific assets for films) is the exception to me.
Phantasm - What sets this series apart is how it caught my interest above other things. Saw the films as a little kid first and loved them. Some time later I rediscovered the series, it got me hooked again, and it became the anchor that truly made me enthused about the horror community
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - "The perfect horror movie" as I think of it as today. When I saw this I knew that I wasn't just a fan; these movies were the genre that really clicked with me, that I should eventually make, and in the mean time what I should focus my efforts on watching.
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

Halloween- I saw this as kid on VHS and I was so fascinated with the ending it was something I'd never before and as the years went on I got more into the story and later the sequals
Phantasm- Once again I saw this on vhs as a kid and the scene when the metal orb drilled into that guys head and the blood came shooting out was left inprinted in my mind forever. And The Tall man was scary as hell back then.
Childs Play- oh come on seeing this as a kid would freak anyone out.
Hallowee 4- this movie made me a die hard Michael Myers fan. Theres something about this movie that just made me keep going back and watching it over and over again even till this day its a guilty pleasure of mine.
Hellraiser 3- this was my first Hellraiser movie and seeing the guy with pins in his head and able to make chains come out of no where had me so interested in the movie.

Heh heh heh... I actually had a script for a remake going into 42 pages long when my old computer fucking crashed on me X). It wasn't that much different from the old one. Mainly I tried to make things more violent, make the maniac attacks less random (why do the maniacs do what they do? Why do they leave so little evidence?), and bring more realism to the characters' reactions and such.

Was part 5 the first F13 you watched or was there something specifically special about it to you? If the former, how did you feel with all the people talking about Jason and there being no Jason? X)

Actually it was my first Friday the 13th film and I didn't understand who this guy was and what the *deal was* with the mask. Then when I discovered it was part 5 I looked for part one...
Kinda difficult time as just about everyone wanted to see it too -- got put on a
:batt: ing waiting list.
I think I liked the balence of "comedy" with the horror - messed me up a little bit too for camping for the next few years but I don't think I was alone in that...
I somewhat understand that feeling (I watched Puppet Master 5 first in that series and didn't know what he deal with Toulon was... though I still thought he was cool beans when he hologrammed himself on to the Decapitron puppet

). Thanks for the elaboration, veddy interesting!
