That's right, Horror fans.

MGM and Screen Gems are coming together for a remake of Stephen King's 1976 classic.

Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been tapped to write the new Carrie script.

Rumors abound as to who will play the lead. And they are all truly terrifying rumors: Megan Fox? Lindsay Lohan?

I am sad.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I was quite literally having a discussion about Carrie no more than five minutes ago. Now I must find a hammer and beat myself in the cock with it.

Bo... I'm trying to decide if you love your cock—in that way only a true sadist can love something—or hate it with all the power inside you.

I feel like someone should remove it from your custody until the jury decides.

Carrie 1976 - Perhaps as scary as the story could be

Carrie 2002 - More faithful to the book

Carrie 2012 - Suitable for teens and/or gorehound college kids? This is not necessary, really. But hopefully with this crap and Fright Night (and the fact that no remake ever becomes a successful franchise), remakes are starting to lose their "hype-darling" statuses

I heard the "gorehound" phenomenon in film referred to as "torture porn" during one of the panels at World Horror Con, and not only did I think it terribly accurate, but I also love the way it sounds. And I have to say, I'm totally over it. A lot of these movies are gross—okay, really gross—but not necessarily scary. Which is also the case with most of these remakes. They make the movies more gory, but ultimately end up completely destroying the nuances that made the original truly frightening.

Thank you for listening to my "opinion of the day." Big Grin

Man, I seriously hope you're right!

I wrote a script for a remake of Carrie once just for practice. Sadly, I know my practice script will probably be better than what will be used.

It was only a matter of time before they made this into yet another movie. But the thought of Megan Fox playing Carrie makes me puke blood. She's too hot (or so people think) to play Carrie. The actress that plays Carrie must be somewhat non-attractive but if given the resources, can look pretty majestic. Fox looks like white-trash.

Oh yes, agreed on all fronts except the puking blood, because I've never done that.

I agree with Caro. Involuntary and spontaneous orgasms are ALWAYS worth looking into!

So give up the goods, Bo!

I expected nothing less than involuntary orgasms from you Bo. When they drop the bucket of blood on Carrie, in your version, will Carrie be dropping some blood from her womb simultaneously?

speaking from the standpoint of someone who has the first name - read the book, seen the movie and my fair share of King inspired humor and drama...
I'm curious to see which scenes will be replayed as an "homage" to the original -
I still find the detention scene a *classic*
and wonder if Mr. King wil be given a cameo in this film however slight.

That being said I wonder what style of dress she'll wear to the Prom?
it is a new generation after all and the one from the original reflected both the innocence of the char as well as the time it took place Cpu

Laughing-satan That's awesome, Caro! And you totally just brought my inner chick out. Now I want to know what she'll be wearing to the prom, too! Laughing-satan
