Box Office Mojo is reporting that Dimension Films and the Weinstein Co. have announced Halloween 3D for theatrical release on October 26th, 2012.
Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer wrote a draft that picks up where Rob Zombie's Halloween II left off. The story centers around Laurie Strode in a mental hospital.
No word if Lussier & Farmer are actually attached to the project, considering they are busy with Hellraiser 3D.

I doubt the film will be released in October. Every time they announce an October date for a Halloween film, it always gets changed to August.

I am over Halloween. Sorry but it was never my favorite franchise, the remakes/reboot was God awful, and throwing 3D into the mix is getting older than hell.
Plus the abuse on Hellraiser is going to be an abomination aswell. I'm calling it all now.

No but I've been stung enough. Halloween rubbish, ANOES remake was total toss, Hellraiser without Doug Bradley - from now on I'm just boycotting. I don't care if I look like a hater. If it looks like a turd and smells like a turd.... yes - you get where I'm going.

LOL - exactly. You have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. I'm tired of being told by people to 'give things a chance' when its plain as day they are total bollocks. It seems to have become a crime lately to say you don't like something. Well I don't like Michael Myers in most cases anyway, I hated Freddy without Robert Englund and the thought of Pinhead without Doug Bradley is just as abhorrent. Shove it all. lol.

I still dunno how I feel about this. Rob never intended for there to be room for more sequels.

Well according to Todd Farmer, he posted on Twitter earlier today that he and Lussier are attached to both projects, Hellraiser and Halloween. These guys are busier than hell. But damn if they aren't good at what they do.

Ha! Very good thank you. And the merlot isn't bad either. However, the thought of some cheap replica Pinhead with his whole persona mutilated... not condusive to my good vibe. I just see the law of averages on these things as weighing against such a venture being a success. Like Freddy, Pinhead is not a merely physical role behind a mask... while its not impossible I'd say it was highly unlikely and I'm sick of wasting my time. Same goes for Halloween with the time wasting stakes and the 3D is even more of a turn off.

Why pick up from where the bullshit Zombie movies left off? Why can't they pick up from where the original Halloween III left off and go in the direction that Carpenter wanted to do? UGH!!

I highly doubt they would take that kind of a chance considering the image Season of the Witch has in the horror community XP. And in all honesty, I can't blame them. I liked Season of the Witch, but having the Halloween series be "anthology" now would devalue the important fact that the last 5 + 2 films have been about Michael Myers :/.
Not to mention, anthology series (new storylines every installment) have actually been tried before to some extent... and they haven't been very fondly remembered (House, The Howling...)
As for this Halloween 3D business: I have low hopes for it myself. Halloween is a series in which gore does not need to be emphasized at all (not even in the Zombie remakes), and I doubt they'd use the 3D for much else (giving depth to darkened houses?)
Plot-wise, I think the story's only hope is that they reduce Michael to a cameo but continue on the storyline of Laurie going nuts, but make her something distinct from "another Michael Myers"; give her her own personality, and don't make her wear the same mask...
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

A Michael that lurks in the shadows, and is not a main character, would give it more creepiness.
I agree, the 3D will likely be used for blood/gore. Hopefully, Michael isn't lunging at the camera and whatnot.
