Shadow people (also known as shadow men, shadow folk, or shadow beings) are supernatural shadow-like creatures of both modern folklore and traditional native American beliefs. According to folklore, they appear as dark forms in the peripheries of people's vision and disintegrate, or move between walls, when noticed. Reports of shadow people occupy a similar position in the popular consciousness to ghost sightings, but differ in that shadow people are not reported as having human features, wearing modern/period clothing, or attempting to communicate. Witnesses also do not report the same feelings of being in the presence of something that 'was once human'. Some individuals have described being menaced, chased, or in some rare instances, attacked by shadow people. There have also been reports of shadow people appearing in front of witnesses and lingering for several seconds before disappearing. Witnesses report that encounters are typically accompanied by a feeling of dread.
Appearance
Accounts of shadow people typically describe them as being black humanoid silhouettes with no discernible mouths, noses, or facial expressions, though accounts also exist of them being child-sized humanoids or shapeless masses that sometimes change to a more human like form. The eyes are usually not described as being discernible but in some reports glowing eyes are mentioned. The color of the eyes, if any, is typically given as red. Their specific form is described variously as two-dimensional shadow to a vaporous or distorted three-dimensional body (as though made out of smoke or steam). Movement is often described as being very quick and disjointed. Some witnesses describe this movement as though the shadow entities they have seen "danced" from one wall to the next, or as moving around the room "as if they were on a specific track". Rarely, they are seen "standing" in the middle of doorways or off the wall. Often they are described as being seen staring at the floor. Some accounts describe what appears to be the outline of a cloak, and in some instances the outline of a 1930s style fedora hat. This last type is referred as the "hat-man".
Various depictions and artists rendering have been posted on the Internet.
I've seen and read a lot about them. But, personally, as open as I am to some things, such as dowsing rods & precognition, I have never actually seen one. Not going to say I don't believe in them, but at heart I'm a realist. Also, a rationalist. But, there are more things in heaven & earth...
I've seen something like this. It was a like a dark shadow shaped person for a quick second then it dissapeared my friends have also said theyv seen them.
I know these exist. Actually me and my family have had alot of experiences with these things, whatever they are or whoever they are. My mom used to see them on a regular basis. Ive seen them back home and when i moved down here. I personally have seen the one with the hat, and from what i have researched he isnt seen to often by people. So i have wondered why he only appears to certain people.

Yeah i have thought about trying to do that. But i think i am also a little afraid of what i might find out. Or start something up. And i really dont want to be drudging up anything. I have been thru enough with the "unknown" as it is.
Actually they arent ghosts. Not from what ive been taught about them. Unless were talking about two different things here. And i can vouch for these things ive seen, they arent simple ghosts.
I just saw this and didn't know about the thread, so I have to post. I've seen video of these things before, and it was like amazing...The video was a trusted source, wasn't edited in any way, and was footage captured in the basement of a pub.
Basically this is what I saw in the video:
You could see that it was really dark, and that there was no one in the basement, and that no one could have put anything on to pull this off, and it was a VERY fast movement when it happened.
I watched the video a few times because I was amazed at how it looked... You could see out of no where this shadow (It looked very much like what you see if you're outside in the sun, and see your shadow, except, it moved on it's own)...
What I saw was a Shadow that was by a pool table, and it moved VERY fast, back and forth, by a Pool table, and it wasn't much taller than that. You could clearly see the Pool table, and clearly see this thing like, almost coming forward, then backwards back to the Pool Table, and then, it repeated this motion a few times, and disappeared. I've seen a lot of video of things that go bump in the night but this blew me away. It was for sure, NOT a Ghost.
Shadow People / Shadows, are not Ghosts. They're a lot different. They don't have the look of one, as they are always a Shadow. I personally find them interesting because it's like, you see only what appears to be a shadow, and the movements I saw in the video, were just amazing at how fast it was going.
Lil got it right in my opinion; From what I've seen on here, she's got a lot of knowledge about this stuff. The video I saw I can't seem to find online, but if I do, I'll post it, because it's like amazing. It's an OLD Pub / Bar, and in the Basement at night, the video was shot with no one there.
They left the camera in the Basement, and left, and when they came back and checked it, that's when they saw it. The video was pretty clear so you could tell that this thing wasn't a normal Ghost. And like I was saying; The Pool Table down there, is right where it started out. It was VERY neat how just out of no where, you see this pool table, and a second later, out of no where, this Shadow starts moving back and forth REALLY fast like it was already there, but it had just appeared.
At the time I saw him, I wasn't to thrilled to be seeing it lol...I just always called it a him, like it gave off a male vibe?? what exactly are they? are they something from another plane? or somethin ET in nature? I would love to know...
Everyone is normal until you get to know them.....

I may have to write a piece on this when i can. Just things ive learned and been taught about them. It seems to be leaning more towards an evil source since the majority all claim the same things when they see them. Which is a sense of evil presence, some simply call them the "Watchers". But i think there may be a bit of a difference there. I dont feel from what i know that the Watchers and the Shadow people are of the same source. I believe they are 2 different things, but look similar. Which is why i think the confusion comes from on this subject.
