30 Days of Night: Dark Days

It’s been a year since the Alaskan town of Barrow’s population was decimated by vampires during its annual month long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella (Sanchez) has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist.

Met with skepticism and laughter, Stella is ready to throw in the towel when a group of lost souls (Coiro, Baird and Perrineau) offers an incredible opportunity: the chance to exact revenge upon Lilith (Kirshner), the vampire queen responsible for the assault on her sleepy Alaskan town. With nothing remaining to live for, and nothing left to fear, Stella joins their mission and ventures into the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles where she pushes herself to the most extreme limits to stop the evil from striking again.

I thought it was interesting that they took vampires back old school. No sexy, romantic vampires here. It didn't really annoy me. I thought the story line was okay. Looks a lot like the graphic novel. It was a little far fetched, but intriguing none the less. We've also watched some shorts based on the same thing but based in New Orleans. I can't say they're bad, but I probably won't watch them again. I rarely re watch things unless I love them.:vampire:

The first one was alright. I'm not crazy about it, though. Nor do I think a sequel will work.

A sequel for this makes PERFECT sense. I mean, it's based on a comic that has a TON of different story lines. I LOVED 30 days. Vampires need to be horrible monsters to be considered monsters. Not some fruity, "Oh, I love you, let me drink yer blood to live, and we can be together forever" bull. Stephine Meyer,Anne Rice, and hell, even Stoker ruined the myth of the vampire. I'm just not that much into "chick" flicks. Hell, most of the females I know aren't either.:zombie:

30 Days of Night reminded me of a chick flick during parts.

"Gee, let me inject myself with this Vampire blood to save this girl who dumped my ass when I could live to take care of my younger brother. After I save her, we will enjoy a last kiss and watch the sun rise."

oh, and Josh Hartnett reminded me of an emo through the whole movie.
