Maybe it's not so bad that it's haunted. I didn't do my normal research on the original post. Here's some more info...
"It is written that in 1684 many young girls who lived in the area met the devil in their dreams. After seducing them, he sent them to visit the monks at Lucedio's Abbey. The girls managed to corrupt the abbey and convert the monks to Satanism. From that moment on, a long history of evil rituals, tortures, homicides, cruelty and even cases of child molestation began."
"Lucedio Abbey dates back to 1123. During that time, Cistercian monks resided there and introduced rice cultivation to the area. Years later, the peaceful abbey became a place of such horrible acts that word eventually reached Rome. Under direct orders from Pope Pio VI, the Abbey was finally closed (it took 100 years) on September 10, 1784."
I couldn't find it written anywhere, but the same family that donated the land to the church in the 1100's got it back after they closed the abbey. The family lived there until recently. Ghost Hunters visited the abbey and the man that was their host used to sleep in the room with the rib vaulted ceilings. He was interesting to hear talking about staying in the room and hearing things.
