BojanglesGameStop rips people off so bad.

I think it was Loki and myself whom were mostly discussing a topic similar to this before. I'll agree with him, GameStop can be a pretty cool place. They will carry special editions of games and they will hook you up with freebies when you reserve stuff from them. Nothing major at all, but it's still kind of cool. The only freebie I've seen that I actually think is worth it is the Ghostbusters t-shirt you get for reserving the Ghostbusters video game. Who wouldn't want a bad ass shirt like that?

I just think that GameStop rips people off with their trade-in's (sp?). Now, I don't ever trade my games in, nor do I sell them. All the games I buy, I keep. The last time I was talking about GameStop I had went with my buddy as he wanted to trade-in this game which had only been in his Xbox 360 something like two times. It was only a $20 or $30 game, though. Well, he went to GameStop to get some trade-in value for it. They were only going to give him like $2 cash or $3 trade-in value on the game. He did it, but I personally wouldn't have.

Now, another story that's even crazier, in my opinion. I have another buddy who picked up UFC Undisputed. He got bored of it after awhile and I can see where he's coming from on that. It's a great game at first but then it does get boring. There isn't really all that much you can do. I certainly don't play it as much as I used to. I will hold onto it, though. Either way, my friend went to go trade this game in. Keep in mind this game, at the time of this post, is not even a month old. Also, it's a very popular game. They were willing to offer him like $25 trade-in value or $10 cash. If you didn't know, GameStop charges $55 for new games that are USED. For $5 more you could just score an unused brand new copy of the game. So, they were going to give my buddy either $25 trade-in or $10 cash and then turn around and put a $55 price on it. Needless to say, he kept the game.

I agree the trade in value of games there is terrible, but I will defend Gamestop on a few things. And they give you 80% of the trade in value if you want cash and not store credit.

1. They give the best pre-order bonuses out there right now. Including in game downloadable content and cool stuff like t-shirts,figures and bonus dvd's with games.

2. They have some great sales in your weekly ad from time to time that cannot be matched.

3. Their used games may be only $5 cheaper then a new copy, but you can exchange any used game within 7 days of your purchase for another used game and it can be done continuously. I've bought used games there and beat them within the week numerous times and kept trading them for other used games and kept doing the process, just look at my Xbox Live Gamerscore....lol

P.S. For sales on Xbox 360 games or other next-gen console games, keep a look out for Target's weekly circular. For instance the Left 4 Dead Game of the Year addition is only $37 this week at Target.

Also, if you are interested in reselling your games I would turn to Craigslist. You can normally get almost about 75% of what you paid for the game in return. I have sold a ton of stuff on there including Xbox 360 games.

Yeah, they are lame. I bought UFC Undisputed for $60, got tired of it after about 2 weeks, took it back, and they gave me $25 cash for it, and I'm pretty sure it sells USED for like $50. Same thing with Resident Evil 5....

Know what I started to do? I will call Gamestop and ask them for the value of the game I want to trade in, the get a friend to buy it for 10 to 15 bucks more. My friends are getting a game that would be cheaper than buying it used for Gamestop, and I get more money. SWEET!

[COLOR="Cyan"]It is rough sometimes. But, where else can you sell back a used game? We have a used book store that also has movies & games & you can do it there, but, like everything else you have to be careful. We bought a used copy of Mirror Mask there (used book store) for $15 and thought it was a great deal, until we walked in Game Stop an hour later and found it for $5 new.
-The return deal is also great. I have a friend who does that constantly. One of the guys at the local store has suggested to Loki that he do that.
-The local guys are awesome. SUPER friendly, even to not very serious gamers.
-Always look for sales. It's the best way. On everything. Period.

I like ebay okay. I like amazon better. But, at Game Stop you can take them back if they don't work. That counts for a lot.
