Robert Englund Drops “Hints” On Nightmare Remake!

Robert Englund recently sat down with Red Carpet News TV at the 2015 Showmasters Bournemouth Comic Con! Robert had some pretty interesting things to say. However, he stresses that he is purely speculating! Keep that in mind.

So whats all the hype about?

Well, lets start at the beginning. We recently heard about a SECOND Nightmare on Elm St. remake…. which to a lot of horror fans, especially Elm Street fans, we felt it was … well.. to put it bluntly… stupid.

Why do we need ANOTHER Nightmare on Elm Street remake and so soon at that?

Well, according to Robert Englund’s little chat with Red Carpet News… he speculates that something else may be in fact going on here.

New Line MIGHT be planning a remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors!!!

Robert:
Quote:“I think they may be remaking A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 3″

Now remember, this is pure speculation on Robert Englund’s side. He claims that he does not have or know any details.

What makes this even more interesting is he goes on to mention that theres gossip that they (New Line) approached Tuesday Knight! This is quite the gossip if you ask me. Tuesday Knight replaced Patricia Arquette as “Kristen Parker” in Nightmare 4: Dream Master.

Now to further fuel this “GOSSIP”, I spotted something today on Tuesday Knight’s Facebook page that I feel, has answered the question. I took a screen shot and you can make your own assumptions.

I feel Tuesday Knight would of just flat out denied it if the rumors were not true. As I have seen many actors / actresses do. But she didn’t. So this really gets you to wondering about what New Line is up to here.

Tuesday Knight has always been honest and up front with her fans from what I have seen. So if true, and I think at this point it is, she can’t confirm it because of legalities most likely.

Back to Robert Englund….

Quote:“They’re not gonna be bring me back for Freddy,” he explained. “Perhaps they’d bring me back in a cameo as an elderly dream expert at the local clinic for dream analysis or therapy?”

Hmmmm…. very interesting take Mr. Freddy.. I mean, Robert Englund! Is he trying to tell us something perhaps?

Robert again states that this is all pure speculation and that he doesn’t really know any details at this time.

Key phrase here being… “at this time”. Sometimes it’s not what isn’t said… but what IS said.

So “not at this time”, he clarifies.

Does this mean he has been approached with something???

This could get very interesting!

Exorcist Remake Still On?

Jim Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek, spoke with Deadline recently with exclusive insight on current dealings and what the future holds, particularly with an Exorcist remake.

What is currently happening?

The following comes from Deadline:

Quote:EXCLUSIVE: Morgan Creek Productions has hired investment banking group Houlihan Lokey to sell domestic rights to its library of 78 films that includes such comedy classics as the Major League and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective series, the gritty True Romance from Tony Scott and Quentin Tarantino, the Daniel Day Lewis-starrer The Last Of The Mohicans, and the Kevin Costner-starring Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. The advantage of their film library is that it is loaded with a lot of family-friendly product.

So what does this have to do with an Exorcist remake you say?

Well according to the Deadline exclusive:

Quote:As part of any sale, Morgan Creek would retain remake rights for five titles — Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Major League, Young Guns, Flying Tigers and The Exorcist — but pay a percentage of the gross profit to the new owner of the library. The company will also retain TV rights.

And finally the teaser:

Quote:We have a number of properties that we are looking to move forward on.” Hmmm, could a remake of Major League and Ace be in the works? “Yes,” said Robinson, who said that ideas are being tossed right now for both those and The Exorcist.

While all of this sounds like exciting news to some, I wouldn’t go spinning my head at 360 degrees just yet.

There has been talk of a remake before and so far nothing has came to pass yet. While I am sure that there will be a remake sooner or later, as that is the kind of horror world we live in now…. there has also been talk that things could be much different when it comes to an Exorcist remake. I don’t think die hard fans would be to crazy about a PG-13 Exorcist remake. Not saying this is set in stone… this is only one of the many things going around concerning this among horror fans voicing their opinions and concerns about how horror is done in this day and age and what could possibly be expected.

Times have changed in the land of Horror and it shows more and more each time we get a new remake, So you can bet that an Exorcist remake won’t fully escape these types of clutches either.

However, one thing is for sure…..

An Exorcist remake will not upstage the original.

Well don’t look at me… I didn’t say it…… It, it, was…

Halloween Returns! Will Gillian Jacobs Be The Lead?

Dimension Films and Director Marcus Dunstan will be bringing fans Halloween Returns! The last news I heard on this, they hope to start shooting this Fall. Also, Louisiana was rumored to be the movies location. But it is to my understanding that has not yet been confirmed.

Dunstan recently said, “I really like this actress Gillian Jacobs,” he went on to say, ““She’s known for all this comedy on ‘Community,’ and yet I didn’t know her from ‘Community’ first, I knew her from a movie called ‘Gardens of the Night,’ which is one of the most wrenching dramas, and she’s excellent. I thought, ‘I wonder if this great performer would do that again, would like to go there,’ and I think so.”

There has been no official confirmation that Gillian Jacobs will be starring in Halloween Returns, but as soon as something gets released, I will update you!

The plan alluded to so far, Halloween Returns will be picking up from the events that occurred in Halloween 2, that is Halloween 2 from 1981. Which should be quite interesting given that it was well over 30 years ago. The plan also alludes to ignoring all other sequels and remakes, which could bring a breath of fresh air to some of the older fans of the franchise. The film will follow Deputy Gary Hunt, who was originally played by Hunter Von Leer in 1981’s Halloween 2. If you remember, Gary Hunt accompanied Dr. Loomis to the school, Hunt is now acting Sheriff of Haddonfield, Illinois. The now 18-year-old offspring of one of Myers’ victims will play a central role along with the child of a cop who has long been obsessed with the Myers’ case. Michael Myers is now on death row and the two kids with their own personal vendettas against Myers sneak in to watch his execution. But when things go wrong and Myers escapes… well, you can guess the rest.

So far from all that I have read concerning this new Halloween movie, it sounds like they have really tried to do their homework. Even going back to reviewing John Carpenters screenplay! They also want to keep the Myers mask as close to the original as possible. It seems they want to go back to the old format of the original and try and capture the beauty of what made it such a success in the first place.

Also, Alan Howarth has shown some enthusiasm in wanting to score this new Halloween film. Alan Howarth has done other music for Halloween movies in the past. He would be the perfect fit for this new film.

The feel I get from this, is that they really want to do this right, and that makes me a happy fan to hear. This is not a remake, or even a reimagining as they put it. It is picking up from the events from the original part 2. “Halloween 3”, I guess you could nickname it. While all of this sounds great to hear and very promising, I hope this does not turn out to be another let down. To many times there have been major hype, just to be disappointed in the end. But as I always do, I will give it the chance it deserves in the hopes that it truly does live up to it’s hype and the potential that I see here. So far I have no problems with it. I do think picking the right cast of characters for this is very critical. I have seen movies be ruined by the wrong choices in cast members in the past. They have already done some motion tests for potential Michaels, this will also be very crucial to the movies success. One worry I do have right now, is that to much detail will be given to certain areas while others could suffer, which could be a potential tipping point in how successful the film ends up being.

Halloween fans, or any franchises faithful followers don’t miss a trick, they see, hear and notice everything. I am one of those fans and will be watching, closely! There are some pretty hefty shoes to fill!

So make sure you get it done right!

It’s only been five years since New Line and Platinum
that brought the taunting slasher Freddy Krueger into
all our nightmares. But in Hollywood years, that’s a
lifetime, so it’s time for another reboot .
A new reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street is in the
works at New Line Cinema again, and this one will
ignore the 2010 reboot that starred Jackie Earle Haley
as Freddy Krueger. Find out who will be writing the
script for the A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot after the
jump!
The Tracking Board reports it will be Orphan scribe
David Leslie Johnson writing the script this time, but
there’s no director or producers on board the project
as of yet. So far only New Line’s Toby Emmerich,
Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter are overseeing
for the studio, so the project is still pretty early in
development.
A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of several horror
franchises that, much like the character who haunts
endless dreams, just won’t die. Freddy Krueger
(originally played by Robert Englund) stands with
Michael Myers from Halloween and Jason Voorhees
from Friday the 13th as a horror icon, but just like those
other two seemingly immortal killers, they’ve also worn
out their welcome from time to time.
Krueger has always been the more playful and silly of
the iconic, recurring slashers, spouting off one-liners
and campy jokes to his victims before he kills them. He
even battled Jason Voorhees in the silly match-up
Freddy vs. Jason in 2003, and has spun off into several
novels, comic books and video games as well.
Though the 2010 reboot has a respectable cast
(including Rooney Mara in the lead) and tried
desperately to remake the film for a new generation, it
just didn’t separate itself enough from the original film
and instead was simply boring, lacking in any true
horror. If anything, it just seemed to take itself far too
seriously. Or maybe we just live in a world where a
killer like Freddy Krueger just doesn’t work anymore.
Though I’m sure someone out there has an idea to
bring Freddy back from the dead.

It’s only been five years since New Line and Platinum
Dunes tried their hand at remaking Wes Craven ‘s
classic horror flick A Nightmare on Elm Street , the film
that brought the taunting slasher Freddy Krueger into
all our nightmares. But in Hollywood years, that’s a
lifetime, so it’s time for another reboot .
A new reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street is in the
works at New Line Cinema again, and this one will
ignore the 2010 reboot that starred Jackie Earle Haley
as Freddy Krueger. Find out who will be writing the

BLoody-Disgusting reports that Platinum Dunes is "in talks" to score the Halloween franchise and work alongside Dimension Films in bringing Michael Myers back to the big screen. Though Platinum Dunes is not the only company Dimension Films is taking the Halloween series to.

Essentially, Dimension is fielding interest from various companies...and Platinum Dunes just happens to be one of those contenders. So, while a Platinum Dunes-produced Halloween film could very well be a reality, it's all just "talk" right now. As for the "direction" that the series might take, I'm hearing that pitches are being fielded for a straight-up continuation of what Rob Zombie created and another reboot is being considered.

Reminds me of The Strangers, and I do love the masks, the sets, and the bits and from the few stills I can find, the camera-angles. However, the talk of it being "action/comedy" kills my anticipation a little. Unlike the guy who wrote the article, I have seen a lot of action in recent horror films, and too much comedy (although that seems to have stagnated a bit recently).

The stills I've seen around the web look brutal. I do wonder how the comedy will be integrated.
