Mine died back before Katrina.
Anyway - later this month she is going to visit her grandparents who above all else - don't take piddly crap and "I can't" or believe in spoiling thier only grandchild. She is treated as old as she is including no cartoons, random excess of pointless treats, tec.
It's my mom - she was up here in the early summer to watch her "move on" from her last class to her new school and took us all on a trip to Canada. She then left - less than a week from her daughter and oldest grandchild she hadn't seen since early spring - to go spend time with her boyfriend.

While she did go back to New Orleans to be there when my older brother bought a house she then left again to spend time with, you guessed it - her boyfriend once again.

So why am I pissed?
She does not understand why I am letting my only child go to these "bad" grandparents and she can't have her alone for a few days (weeks?) before school starts. Beacause he's right - if we were to send her down she'd say why not a few more days, etc.
Why do I sound like the evil, ungreatful daughter?
She had all of July to ask her to come down. Didn't.
And only until I shared this info did she cry foul for not seeing much of her this summer.

Ok, I have a confession. I'm really Djinn. Djinn is really not Asian or a shop owner. I'm really a fat balding hermaphridite living in my Mother's basement. Mom died a few years back, but I left her mumified corpse seated at the kitchen table. I wear her house coat, and sit around the house all day bull shiting you all via the internet. I have no job and forge Mom's SSI checks to buy Kraft EZ Mac and Diet Dr Peper, which is all I consume on a daily basis. The toilet is broken, so I either piss out the back door, or into the home made depends I have fashioned from discarded Jack In The Box napkins. I crap in a bucket and wipe my korn hole with the back of my hand. I find, once it drys, it flakes off easily, which is a good thing since the water company disconnected service years ago. I collect rain water and store it in an oak barrel I found down stairs. This is enough for drinking purposes and my monthly sponge bath. I pray to god we never have a drought.

Earlier today I let my youngest out to "play" outside - while she is 12 and with some specail concern - I let her go alone with the understanding that she not go past the playground with the slide (no streets to cross but yet less than 5 mins walking distance) or to anyone's house without telling me first

nearly an hour and a half later it was getting dark and she had not returned

In going to look for her - I found her talking to some kid in the middle of the steet who took one look at me and he wheeled off with the "oh @#$%" face

part of me wants to believe she lost track of time

but then she told me she was beaten up - kicks and slaps - from at least 2 older boys and several she couldn't tell who they were but were yelling various insults...

still all I seem to hear is to wait until tommorow to solve this - I'm sick to my insides not knowing what to do.

I'm upset about this but I'm not sure what to respond to - that she disobeyed me and got hurt when going off when she was told NOT to

or to assure her she's all right when I'm feeling more @#$%ed up after going it over in my head for the upteenth time?!
