no it's not. taking away the kid's xbox is DISCIPLINE. no dessert for a week is DISCIPLINE. putting a kid in time out is DISCIPLINE. hitting a child is ABUSE.

Different times. Hitting a kid WAS discipline. Slapping a kid on the wrist is not abuse. Slapping your kid across the face or pushing him down is abuse. In today's world... we frown upon it because of how tight the abuse laws are but it was discipline back in the day. Back in the day where lashing them was still allowed.

I don't care what form of discipline you believe in, but if you cannot parent your child properly, you deserve to have your child taken away from you.

I dont think our point is ever getting across-it was necessarily about hitting-it was about teaching your children proper SAFE behavior in public and with strangers however you have to go about teaching them. The hateful vengeful kind of beatings I got were abusive-but that doesnt mean i agree with Daylight that it's always abusive to hit. I could never bring myself to hit my child but that's me. I certainly hope if Daylight ever has children she has the kind that are just naturally more obedient so she wont be faced with that.

Hell, I say beat the parents ass. Granted, some children may require more parental discipline, or parental guidance than others, but it's their parents job to ensure that their child can conduct themselves properly both at home and in public. If they do not do that, it's hard to tell what the fuck their kid will be like when they get older. For instance, what do you think will happen to the girl that was shooting spitballs at my friend and I, with the aid of someone significantly older than herself? The outcome, most likely, will not be a good one.
Mytee has admitted that her child has disorders that affect the way she acts, but her child still knows how to conduct herself properly in public and mytee has never raised a hand to her child. What does this tell me? It tells me that mytee is a good parent and it's unfortunate that there are not more parents out there like her.

I believe "Spare the rod spoil the child". I love kids, I am not one to just violently whip kids or anything like that. But I DO believe in DISCIPLINE! If my kids yell, scream, backtalk, or be rude.... I will smack them! I might not enjoy or like smacking them, but I will do what it takes to teach them proper. Taking away toys or stuff does not always work! It teaches your kids that they can get by with things easily... Because most moms just cave in, in the long run. Well I am not someone who would cave in so easily.

Belts, spankings and harsh slappings are a little over-the-top. Time outs, slap on the hands, an occasional light slap on the cheek... that's fine. But if I ever have kids, it'll take a lot of anger for me to strike them.
