Yeah Freaks wasn't really horror... and I don't really think Eraserhead was either
As for Death Proof dialogue; I haven't seen the film yet but really, a crap-ton of old thrillers (which DP is based on) concern characters droning on about dull, inconsequential character-driven stuff for sevearal minutes before any action starts (pick up some 4-movie packs with lots of 70s stuff, you'll see
