The Strangers

I loved this movie, personally I think it's one of the best of this decade (That's not saying much, though in this case I think it is really, really good ). So many people complain about this being a ripoff, that it has too many cliches in it, and that it actually rips off of Halloween... I personally think that while the scenes of the killers' exposition do resemble the classic, the fact that the strangers use the team dynamic and the whole hide and stalk method sets it apart and makes it its own creepy entity.

Even more maddening are those who complain about the very things that make it great: "ohh we never find out who the killers are!", or "ohh, James and Kristen aren't the perfect couple who come together and kick ass!". I think stuff like that makes it seem like the filmmakers actually cared about making their own movie and not appealing to every little thing the audience comes to expect.

I'm very interested to see what the sequel is like, though I sort of doubt it can capture the same magic as the first without being a carbon copy, I have a feeling Mr. Bertino should be able to pull it off.
