You get sad about family deaths because they're close, you know who they are. Same with celebrities. If there's a celebrity you like you can be affected by their death since you likely know something about who they are and what they could do (Robert Quarry Sad ). Sure there are many people who die, but mostly it goes unnoticed by those except the people who knew them. It's sad, but it often doesn't connect to you, whereas celebrites are connected indirectly to a whole bunch of people.
