Redlands, FL, United States (AHN) -- Miami police are reportedly searching for a man they said assaulted another man, breaking his neck, after his daughter asked him to pull over on the side of the road to pick a tomato.
According to Miami-Dade police, Robert Lerner, 44, was taking his daughter to a photo shoot in the Redlands, when she noticed the tomatoes in a nearby grove and asked if they could stop to pick one.
Upon doing so, a bluish-green Jeep Wrangler pulled in front of Lerner's vehicle and a relatively short man (5'9", 175 pounds with black-and-white speckled hair) stepped out yelling at him calling him a thief.
The confrontation turned physical, and the man - estimated to be between the ages of 40 and 60 years old - threw Lerner to the ground, fracturing his neck and injuring his spinal column, police reports stated.
Lerner, who now has two Titanium plates in both the front and back of his neck, said his physical injuries are nothing compared to the heartbreak he feels knowing what his daughter witnessed.
