The 44-year-old woman claimed the doctor said the âFâ word at least three times after she told him she did not like the word âdietâ and preferred the term âlifestyleâ instead, CBS News reports.
The doctor admitted to using bad language during the tense consultation with the woman who, afterward, lodged complaints with the Health and Disability commissioner.
She then received a letter from the surgeon saying they no longer had a âtherapeutic relationshipâ and her name had been removed from his waiting list for gastric bypass surgery.
The Health and Disability commissioner recommended the surgeon attend a communication skills course.
