Mr. Briggs Inc. Wrote:I'm definitely itching to see this one still; The Strangers went through this type of anti-hype backlash itself and IMO that was one of the best horror films this (ending) decade!
Well, you can pick Paranormal Activity up on DVD now. I also enjoyed The Strangers. Be sure to let us all know what you think once you've seen it.

i still havent seen this movie =(
but i want to soo much, it looks so awesome.
I would on a moment's notice, but the rub is that the DVD is still either within the $20 range or absent at my local stores -_-

You may be stumped when you finally watch it...
I mean I expected ALOT more from it...
Trust me... it isn't SCARY at all...
I think its one you really had to see in the cinema. And also one that is only really good the first time cause u dont know what to expect.

Hmm maybe your right about the Cinema thing...
I mean in Cinemas the sound is louder, and the room is darker lol.
It is one of those movies that work way better in cinemas, rather than on DVD. That's a problem with the POV camera.

I dunno, I've seen a good enough share of crappy home-video-horror to be a-OK with watching good ones like Blair Witch on the small screen X)
...and this is just hypothetically (Probably incorrectly) speaking but I'd honestly imagine they would work better in general at home, like you're studying them, isolated and getting slowly engrossed in what's happened instead of in the theater trying to ignore the dozens of other people watching it with you
Well, I also have a very nice home theater setup, so the difference between theater and home doesn't really effect me much.
Me and my friend were going to rent it but they were all out. Went to two video stores and they were gone. Looks like there is mixed reviews about it.
I'm not a fan of it really.
Would it be worth renting?

I would say yes.
I don't know, I thought It was pretty good, though I only flinched once, It had a nice atmosphere and got you into the mindset you need for a film In the genre, but if Its not scary does it fit? Then again I don't scare easily.

:eg:

Now I'll have to keep checking back to see if the video store has it in.
Again, I think the hype really killed this movie. To get the full effect, seeing it on a TV wouldn't do justice as it would in the theater.
As I've said before that's one thing I hate about some movies, they only work in theaters.

Yea, Plus the movie was all hype and no scare.
I fear the same thing happened with Cloverfield. It was hyped like hell, I loved it, but for me... the only real way to see that movie is on the big screen. Watching it at home just doesn't do justice to it.

Exactly
