Yeah, when they go bad they go very bad, but they're pretty inexpensive, and USUALLY rather reliable. I highly recommend using them as a learning camera. They are good for making shorts, doing auditions, hell, if you wanna make a no-budget feature in standard def, they are serviceable.

since you're a camera wiz..what's a fish eye lens? the camera i wanna get has that...but i dont know what it is! =(

Daylight, it makes the image look 'round' like a fish eye.
