I have LOVED this remake!!! I have heard of many who didn't like it but I can't really understand why...the acting was gr8, the kills also and the 3D adds something new 2 it...Anyway I bought it on Blu-Ray, I think it's a MUST have in your, if not Blu-Ray, at least DVD collection!!! Of course this is just MY opinion...
I liked it also, but did not think the acting was great, it was a super silly movie.
off topic, but welcome to the forums Smile
that was a great movie!!!! i havent seen the original, but this movie kicked ass.

Another example of a movie i need to go back and rewatch the original of. I liked the remake, and I am a huge fan of Jensen Ackles. I liked the psychological angle of the remake. Good times!
I can say I'm honestly surprised at how much I liked this one; the trailers made think "okay, this is going to be a fan-service film that's not going to take itself seriously at all," but once I watched it I realized that the killings were next to the only "cheesy" thing in there (And even they had some great suspense built around them for a good all-around package Smile ).

In my opinion the 3D film takes itself a TON more seriously than the original, and it makes both the physical and psychological elements a lot scarier. Though I miss the variety of weapons the miner used in his "trade" the "sing-song-crazy" angle in the end and the killer's original motives, just about every other element made up for the losses. Right now I'd give it at least a 7/10, and honestly want a sequel.
I tried to watch this, my eyes started to bug me from wearing the 3D glasses over my regular ones and sooo I tried to watch without them, that was a no go, everything looked crazy lol.. maybe better luck next time, huh?

ride. The acting was good, the suspense was up there and I can't remember the last time I was actually unprepared for a fun time at the movies.

It's a shame there won't be a follow up.
I'm with you in that boat, RIP
This was a very good movie. A film that did something different with the original, was campy, corny, enjoyable, had a great cast, some scares and was entertaining. I actually liked this movie so much that I ended up seeing it twice in 3D and once in 2D. Also, I got to love the gore. I would love to have a sequel but I think the ending is fine the way it is. Fits well with the original ending.
Pickaxe.
Need i say more?
This is the kinda movie 3D belongs in. Not movies like Halloween or Friday The 13th.
Meester Blue speaks the truth. The 3D didn't bother me on this movie and the 3D actually made me flinch when he threw that severed jaw at me.
3D is supposed to be fun. This movie was ridiculously fun. The perfectly shaped eyeball on the business end of a pick axe, Tom Atkins' jawbone flying out into the audience... and that one chick was completely naked for a good ten minutes.
Win.
Totally awesome horror movie! this was very enjoyable because it provided high production values along with boobsSmileSmile and gore. This is a typical slasher flick, done perfectly to form. It has clever and gruesome murder scenes. The killer behaves exactly like Jason Vorhees or Michael Myers in that he basically can't be killed, even if shot million times - yet stupidly moves so slow when hunting down even stupider people, every single way a major film franchise slasher acts, the killer in this films also acts.

Just breathe
Don't forget, although it was a remake... it didn't remake everything. There were still some plot points that were altered and therefore, it turned the MBV movie into more of a hard-boiled horror than a teen drama.
This movie is a step above your typical teenage slasher film. As far as I know, it takes the original script but reworks it a bit, throwing in tons more action and a boatload of gore..well,not surprisingly, and giving the plot a few more twists and turns to set it apart from the first movie.

Characters aren't the typical teenage victims, but rather are adults each with their own lives and problems which is something that many fans of the original point out as being one of the film's strengths.
You bring up a good point there Caftan. The victims weren't all just a bunch of stereotypical teens but rather adults with real problems. It was probably one of the more better remakes of the new decade.
