FreddysFingers Wrote:What does that mean, 'this isn't a movie.' Of course it's not. It's real life. In real life traveling alone, in another state, without anybody you know is dangerous. If something happens like an accident nobody will be there to help you out. If you want to go alone, fine, tempt fate.

thanks for the warning(s)
especially with all the :jj:

:esnicker:'s well you knows out there -
I agree, be extra careful
I always do this because you've never traveled by yourself to anywhere that's more than 200 miles outside of your hometown. Just because your parents see no problem doesn't mean it's safe. Age has nothing to do with it. You can be 98 years old and it's still not okay to travel alone somewhere.
dude, the summer race in Daytona is like, one of the biggest events in Florida, there's gonna be cops everywhere. i'll be fine. and yes i will be careful.
all i want is to watch the races and go to the beach, jeesh.
ya know, like the song?!
POUNDIN DOWN THE PAVEMENT, COME AND WATCH ME RIDE!
i'll be FINE. i just want to watch my damn races.
already found a hotel that's 3 miles from the Speedway, so i can walk to the race (i walk that much daily so its no big deal for me). gonna send the link to my mom so she can book my room

pretty excited for this!!! MY FIRST RACE, BITCHES.
Like I said, going anywhere alone is a bad idea. Some day you'll learn this.
you're just paranoid. i always go to events alone. true, most are in my town, but dude chill i'll be fine. it's just a race. plus, Florida is pretty.
i've wanted to go to the Daytona 500 since i was like, 10. and now i'm FINALLY going and you can't even be happy for me?! not fucking cool dude.
Florida is very pretty. There is no doubt about that. I'm just trying to tell you that you should at least go with somebody even if you are just rooming with them in the hotel. At least you have somebody in that state that you know.
i dont WANT to go with anybody. i prefer to be alone. plus i dont know any racing fans, at all.everybody i know says its for redneck hicks. my dad likes racing but he's not crazy about it like i am. i guess i pissed him off enough as a kid when i kept saying, "they drive 170mph, you do it! this is too slow!". haha.
and people outside my family say racing is for rednecks. but i'm not a redneck. i'm missing the Sharks playoffs games for this bc it's gonna so expensive (hotel, plane tickets, race tickets, food, etc). i want to go SO MUCH.
heart!!!!!

You know you can go to the race alone but still have somebody with you for safety's sake? Your dad can do whatever he wants in Florida. At least you'll have somebody within the vicinity and considering that he likes racing he might agree to this. You WANT to go alone but it's really not safe. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this.
I need to learn to be independent. I don't need a babysitter. I'll be fine. I'm only worried about flying during the 4th of July weekend. Especially at SF Int'l.
Sure. Being independent is great but there is not shame in traveling with somebody that you trust. It doesn't take away from your independence, it means you're smart. Babysitters watch you every move, having your dad veg out in the hotel room while you go to a race isn't babysitting. Considering you are worried about flying on 4th of July weekend means you aren't ready to handle this.
I'm done arguing. Logic states that you shouldn't travel alone to other states because it isn't safe. Take that how you will but if you keep tempting fate, it WILL come back and bit you.
i'm not worried about flying, i'm saying the air port will be super crowded. and people travel alone all the damn time, its no big deal.
:eg:wow...hope all is well with you two after this but for my two cents I'm proud of both of you for being able to speak your minds...
It's not really my mind so to speak. I'm just stating what's safe and logical.

:chillpill:
I'm not disagreeing with you at all - I'm just glad SOMEONE pointed out just how unsafe traveling on thier own really is!
again, people travel on their own ALL THE TIME. how's this any different?!
Mostly because they travel alone on business... they have to. You don't have to travel alone. Anybody that vacations alone, visits another state alone or travels alone should realized that it's dangerous. If you have to, because of business or a family emergency, that's different. You obviously don't see a problem with it so go alone and see what happens.
Caroline: I just know from what I heard on the news and personal family experience.

ty Freddy

but I am sorry about what happened to your family that you have to speak *from experiance* about it...

Thanks! It wasn't as bad as I made it out to be but it caused a lot of trouble, a lot of faxes and telephone calls but it worked out.
i prefer to be alone. again, its just a damn race. i'll be fine. summer race in Daytona=biggest race of the year. they'll have every cop in Florida there, chill out ya'll.
you have no idea how long i've wanted to go this. i will not miss this for the world.
ya know, like the song
INTO THE NIGH, ONWARD WE RIDE
GULPIN DOWN POUNDS OF FUEL, PASS THE SPEED OF LIGHT!
