Have you seen it yet? I saw it twice on opening day, if that tells you anything. What did you think? I'm going to be writing a review for this one very soon.
Sadly i haven't seen it yet Sad
I'll wait for the DVD. I just can't get excited about this.
See it. I'm telling you, you will not be disappointed. Don't pre-judge a movie until you've seen it yourself with an open-mind. A lot of people go into movies already hating the remake before they have even seen it and just don't give it a chance.
Yeah, in the horror comunnity, remakes are BAD! Or so goes the thinking. But hey, I LIKE the Halloween remake. So, nnnnnnnnnnnnnuuuuuhhhhhhh:zombie:
...And that's cool with me. I think people should go see these remakes with open-minds.
You know what is funny? I get a lot of heat for prejudging remakes, but the truth is I always check the movies out on DVD (except of the Halloween remake which I saw in the theater god help me) and NEVER like them. But that is just me. I'm old enough to have checked out hte originals in the theaters and loved them, but the remakes just suck a bit of my soul away. So I don't think there is anything wrong with guys my age knowing we are going to be disappointed just skipping them in the theater.

Oh and to be clear everyone here has always been cool. It is just that I've been getting the whole "you aren't supporting horror if you don't go" argument for a couple of years now. With all the stuff that I do and DVDs that I've purchased I think I'm supporting the stuff that I like just fine. Smile
I'll agree with you, the Halloween remake was shit to me. I wish I would have been able to see the originals in theaters. That must have been awesome. I wish they would do a retro thing at my theaters just so I could say I saw them in theaters. Sad.

I understand what you're saying. I don't think in-order to support horror you HAVE to see every horror movie in theaters. Heck, I'm not even saying that you have to see ANY in theaters. I'm just saying that it is definitely worth a watch. I also think that if you're going to watch it, you should do-so with an open-mind.

Either way, I hope you enjoy the movie. You never know it could surprise you. Either way, we're all here for one thing. Our love for horror movies. Big Grin

P.S. You're pretty cool as well Smile
Oh, SMOOCH, SMOOCH FELLAS. WE'RE ALL COOL, we maybe besides for me. I'm cold, as in dead.

Do you Gutz and Bo think if certain remakes were original movies you would like them? If so, why, if not, blah blah blah.

P.S. it IS really cool that we can respect each others opinions here. Don't get that a lot on the netSmile:zombie:
dude benjy i jus went and seen friday it was pretty crazy definately holds up the jason heritage. A+

Yeah, it is pretty cool.

I think you should try to watch a remake as if it IS a new film. It is hard to do.

That is an interesting question. Would I like the Halloween remake if it wasn't a Halloween remake? No not really. I think the dialogue and script would still be lame no matter what the movie was called. Plus the movie really lost me at "Love Hurts" which pretty much destroyed any atmosphere the movie had managed up until then.

Something like the Hills Have Eyes remake is hard to judge. It isn't that bad, but then again Aja basically made (almost) a shot for shot remake. So that begs the point why bother. I would still rather watch the original. Oh and don't get me started on that Psycho abomination of a remake.

Then you have somthing like the TCM remake. While it isn't a shot for shot remake the characters are so iconic that they really can't be judged separately. Plus I hated the camera work on the attacks and how much of the movie looked so washed out. I know that is the look that a lot of modern horror movies are going for, I just don't like it.

For me the one movie that wasn't a remake, but that did capture a style and even a special time period in film making is The Devil's Rejects. Sitting in the theater watching this I felt like I could have been watching an exploitation movie from the 70s.

I can't agree with you on this...
I loved the TCM Remake!, it was awesome!.

Don't get me wrong on this but, I think you just go into movies with your mind already set up that they suck, you just don't give them a chance.

Like the Friday The 13th Remake, alot of people are saying it sucked,
when really I highly doubt that...
I think they just went in with there minds already set.

If your going to be a TRUE horror fan then go into the movie with an open mind, only then can you truly judge the film.

As for the Halloween Remake,
I agree with anyone who says that movie sucked.
They should have never let Rob Zombie direct that movie...

See now this is the attitude I had mentioned earlier. You don't know me we have never met. But you assume because you like the movie that no one else could think it was shitty. So it seems like maybe you already have your mind made up about anyone who doesn't like this without ever actually having a conversation about it with them. I saw it on DVD and didn't like it. If you like it cool, but don't tell me that because I don't dig it I had already made my mind up. The truth is I watched it like I watch all the movies I review, with a critical eye. This one just didn't measure up for me.

Again if you dig it then cool. I have yet to meet two horror fans that agree on every movie they like. Trust me I love some really bad movies so I never discount anyone's opinons. Smile
Anyway...Rolleyes
I finally watched the Friday The 13th Remake, and let me just say this...
It was FUCKING AWESOME!, worth watching!.

I give this movie an 8/10!
I'm definitely gonna watch this movie again! Big Grin
