RELEASE DATE
October 26, 2012

CURRENT STATUS
In Development
No official plot yet.

Writer Todd Farmer had this to say about this script: "We took Rob Zombie's story and continued it, but we did it in a way that sort of pulled it back to the John Carpenter tone and intention, and we didn't cheat. We didn't break any of the rules. We used the rules Zombie had established, and it felt good because it felt like a complete story, and we're still hopeful that one day it’ll happen."

Originally had an October 2010 theatrical release planned.

Production was originally said to begin sometime in November '09, however the Weinstein's decided that the project was being too rushed to accomidate director Patrick Lussier's schedule, so they opted to put everything on hold until he's free to work on this sequel.

This marks the return of director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer, who both worked on the My Bloody Valentine 3D remake together.

This will be in 3D.

It's said that a new genre director will be chosen, who will once again offer a "different take" on the series.

Writer/director Rob Zombie will not be returning.

The third film in the "re-imagining" on the Halloween series.

I actually thought RZ's Halloween films were OK. At the very least they were something "different" yet not entirely removed from the source material. Though these guys make it sound like it'll be good, I have the feeling Halloween 3D is gonna turn into the generic crud Zombie managed to avoid, for the sole purpose of pandering to fans so they'll give more money.

MBV 3D was alright, so that's a little credit to Farmer and Lussier, but somehow I doubt that this will live up to either imagining of Halloween.
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”

Zombie's Halloween is so vastly different from Carpenter's, I don't see how they will be able to pull "back to the John Carpenter tone and intention" but manage to keep the rules that Zombie established. Although I hated 2, I give Halloween credit for doing something completely different from the original like what Briggs has said. I'd have to agree with Briggs in thinking that although they make it sound like it will be good, I'm sure it will fall on its ass.
"The conquest of fear lies in the moment of its acceptance. And understanding what scares us most is that which is most familiar, most common place"
