I always do this because you've never traveled by yourself to anywhere that's more than 200 miles outside of your hometown. Just because your parents see no problem doesn't mean it's safe. Age has nothing to do with it. You can be 98 years old and it's still not okay to travel alone somewhere.

Like I said, going anywhere alone is a bad idea. Some day you'll learn this.

Florida is very pretty. There is no doubt about that. I'm just trying to tell you that you should at least go with somebody even if you are just rooming with them in the hotel. At least you have somebody in that state that you know.

i dont WANT to go with anybody. i prefer to be alone. plus i dont know any racing fans, at all.everybody i know says its for redneck hicks. my dad likes racing but he's not crazy about it like i am. i guess i pissed him off enough as a kid when i kept saying, "they drive 170mph, you do it! this is too slow!". haha.
and people outside my family say racing is for rednecks. but i'm not a redneck. i'm missing the Sharks playoffs games for this bc it's gonna so expensive (hotel, plane tickets, race tickets, food, etc). i want to go SO MUCH.
heart!!!!!

You know you can go to the race alone but still have somebody with you for safety's sake? Your dad can do whatever he wants in Florida. At least you'll have somebody within the vicinity and considering that he likes racing he might agree to this. You WANT to go alone but it's really not safe. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I need to learn to be independent. I don't need a babysitter. I'll be fine. I'm only worried about flying during the 4th of July weekend. Especially at SF Int'l.

Sure. Being independent is great but there is not shame in traveling with somebody that you trust. It doesn't take away from your independence, it means you're smart. Babysitters watch you every move, having your dad veg out in the hotel room while you go to a race isn't babysitting. Considering you are worried about flying on 4th of July weekend means you aren't ready to handle this.
I'm done arguing. Logic states that you shouldn't travel alone to other states because it isn't safe. Take that how you will but if you keep tempting fate, it WILL come back and bit you.

It's not really my mind so to speak. I'm just stating what's safe and logical.

Mostly because they travel alone on business... they have to. You don't have to travel alone. Anybody that vacations alone, visits another state alone or travels alone should realized that it's dangerous. If you have to, because of business or a family emergency, that's different. You obviously don't see a problem with it so go alone and see what happens.
Caroline: I just know from what I heard on the news and personal family experience.

Thanks! It wasn't as bad as I made it out to be but it caused a lot of trouble, a lot of faxes and telephone calls but it worked out.
