It's just much more scary when you are running your ass off, falling, stumbling, and no matter how hard you try, he's right there, slowly moving after you. It implies that feeling of no escape & panic.Well I guess issue #1 is more a matter of personal preference then; I'd probably get a bit cocky with a "slow killer"; run like a bitch but secretly keep thinking "hey, I'll ditch this guy eventually and when that happens I'm gonna rig a house full of traps!". With a fast stalker you only have the time to duck behind a door, hoping they didn't sneak a peek at you going in and aren't about to play around finding you before tearing you to bits XD
I can understand leaving Mrs Voorhees with such minor screen time as well - People know JASON. Friday the 13th is about JASON. Many younger horror fans arnt aware she was in the series or really don't care about her. They want to see the 8' tall guy in the hockey mask with a machete. This probably ties in with why directors seem they couldn't care less about making the audience sympathetic to the victims - they're not paying to see them. I totally understand it...I just don't have to like it
I really feel like I should go put on some slippers and go scream at neighborhood kids to get off my lawn right about now....
On the latter points however, yeah I also don't like taking one element and making it the "focus" of the series despite getting the mentality and the necessity of making a "high-concept" remake that way; I still think the original F13 is the most frightening and therefore the best, even though with the different killer it doesn't "fit in" with the "regular" films in the canon XP. ...I've personally had the need to yell at the neighborhood kids since I was about 16, is that wrong?
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ
