God yes, CHUD; IMO that movie needed a lot more monsters, a lot more of a "rising action" and a lot more of a developed plot. I think the monsters were brilliant, but everything going on around 'em was just plain underdone.
Basket Case? I don't know, as low-budget as it was it did have an absurd charm to it that would be hard to genuinely replicate... I think maybe if it was taken another direction and played straighter (At least a bit) it could be successful... ...Personally, I think I'd make a great Duane for the modern age X)
