.And in my opinion it wouldn't make sense to do a sequel to Freddy vs Jason at this point with there being remakes to each of them...As far as I'm concerned, those storylines were concluded as soon as they announced the remakes, so you can thank good old stagnant Hollywood for ruining this opportunity.

I concur. It's just fine as a stand-alone film. I don't think it needs a sequel or a remake regardless of what "they" do with the original franchises. I think "good old stagnant Hollywood" (LOVE that, btw) needs to back off the remakes and do something somewhat, quasi-original. So what if a franchise is 20-years or more old? Re-release it. Give the fans some decent bonus features. Don't do some hack-job remake to fill-fuckin'-seats out of some misplaced, imagined sense of potential curiosity.

It's so annoying, how Hollywood has lost it's respect for the original work of a creative director/writer/production all for the sake of the Holy-Grail-Bottom-Line. It fills seats or it's a flop. Aggravating.
