Horror is different for other people. Shock value is horror but if that's all a film relies on, than it means the writer/director is an incompetent storyteller who relies on gore, torture and mutilation to scare the audience. At least that's how I feel personally. To truly scare me, you'd have to build up an atmosphere, which is why Asian horror is so good.
