YES. SciFi and horror are a match made in the big-bang.
I wholeheartedly agree about Predator; Too many people say it's a brainless "guy pic" when the combo of the alien's advanced technology, the grandiose score, and the scary, confusing setting makes it a horror classic, hands-down. Say what you will, I also think the sequel easily matches up.
Event Horizon is also amazing, and underrated. I am glad it is getting more attention now. It's not perfect, but coming into it mostly blind, the thing threw my expectations in a hellacious blender: I give it lots of credit for bringing the evil of hell into a setting where things are already overwhelmingly on-edge. damn I wish they could find the rest of the deleted scenes...
