The secondary characters all die and just to make it suck for the main guy, he's rescued"... Now if there was something creepily ironic about the scenario, like the dad saving his kid's life at the beginning or the army supposedly dying about halfway in only to have them save the guy at the end, it would be (Or at least look) more cleverly done.
I thought it was cleverly done actually...
I mean that was a DAMN good ending.
It was one of those endings that made you gasp in 'aww',and think what it would be like in that guys shoes.
