Briggs laid down in a patch of high grass and foliage, unzipping his bags and listening for the slightest sounds... He took out the map and the fair but not reassuring pistol he had been given and began to try and put all the leftover essentials into one bag.

Briggs (Thinking): Allright; around 42, and you... 6 shots up to maybe 16... More ammo to be found... All I have to is shoot and crawl, shoot and skulk, shoot and... shit...

Briggs braced himself down to the ground... crafty footsteps? If they weren't then they would come soon...
