Friday The 13thThe Amityville Horror (1979)

They should have done it especially then considering that the 60s and 70s were filled with people like him minus the homicidal tendencies. If it were the 50s he'd be jailed before he could even think about the voices talking to him.

The movie was nothing exceptional-the case was fascinating-yes they should have and had it happened today wonder what the defense would have argued was wrong with him

See, this is why the remake of "The Amityville Horror" remains sketchy in my mind. Even with all its flaws, it certainly has more scares than the original (see my review of the original, or don't). But isn't there something weird about remaking something that's based on allegedly true events? I feel the same way about the "Helter Skelter" remake that was on TV a few years ago.
Remakes tend to embellish and amp up. I wish they had stuck more to the facts and less to the fast-cutting 80's MTV aesthetic.

I didn't say it was. I just said it was better than the original.

The remake was remarkably dumb and screwed up a lot of things, especially if you're going by the book. But, it had the kind of scares the kids today understand (Eeek! Creepy little ghost girl that wasn't even a girl in the book; it was a pig).

I like it when you call me Newboy... it's so "Mandingo" of you.

I liked the remake because it was actually scary despite the dumb flashy look.

Honestly, the remake was way different from the book and original movie. I also didn't like how they changed the architectural design of the house, making the windows that look like eyes over the front door( what is this Monster House?...lol) With the changes made on the house in the original film, it would have been refreshing to see them do an Amityville Horror that was even closer to the book than the original movie, including having the house the color it really was and locale closer to the real area with close neighbors. Oh well. We can always count on Hollwood changes.

There was no such person as Jody Defeo they changed completely the story told in the book as a remake I didnt like it but stand-alone as a horror movie it was a decent scarefest if you can get it--I watch it without considering it as a remake

Awww mytee.... what a good advice! LoL

I think... I should watch it the same way like you do...lol

I will watch it without considering it as a remake!

Well Horror remakes are actually hard to achieve an enjoyable level, but 'The Amityville Horror' really does give it a good try.
