I think the biggest problem I had with it was that they made Loomis a bad guy and Michael was part of a white trash family. The rest of the movie would have been fine had it not been for those elements.

I don't want to know a lot about my crazed killing machines. All we learned from Carpenter's "Halloween" was that Michael is indeed the Boogeyman. That's enough. At least, it was enough to make the nine-year-old X, watching the movie for the first time, sink down into his seat and cry silently for eight solid hours.
Too much background for a horror icon like that is wrong. It humanized him too much and completely obliterates the fear factor. It's why kidnappers don't want to know the names of their hostages. If you know that much about someone, you can essentially own them.

I definitely liked Rob Zombie's first Halloween film. The sequel sucked major fucking saggy donkey balls.

I'm going to jump on the already-stated-problem: I didn't need to see Michael's backstory. I don't think he simply became evil 'cause of fucked up parenting… he was born evil.

I disliked them both. The backstory with the masks... I could see where Zombie was going with it, but like other people have said, unnecessary and counter-productive. The second film I have seen getting some praise elsewhere for how it was shot etc. To be honest I don't care. It still bored me to death. I at least need a film to entertain me on some level.
Both these films were just drawn-out and dull for me. I hope Zombie goes back to the form he was on previously. I loved his earlier work.

The first one was bad but it wasn't awful like the second. As I watched the first one, I couldn't help but feel the urge to walk out of the theater and watch the original. I saw the second a at a drive-in. Midway into the movie I turned off the speakers, started listening to the radio and write.

Not just no, but HELL no. Hated both films, but the original wasn't quite as bad the second time around. H2 is just nonsense from beginning to end. Carpenter's first two Halloween films are classics.

I'm glad Zombie didn't make Halloween III or The Blob.

Don't listen to Chris, his favorite horror film of all time is the Black Christmas remake.

The remake was garbage. However, I did enjoy the prologue as a stand-along horror short, if you know what I mean?
