Exorcisms: Real or Fake?
#41
I understand that an exorcist is a person who rids the body of evil. I don't know the technical term for demonic possession so I used exorcist/exorcism in replace of that. That was my bad. I'll rephrase what I said, I don't believe in demonic possession (meaning, possession caused by demons, devils or Satan) but I believe in spiritual possession (meaning, possession caused by spirits, forces and ghosts). To believe in demonic possession, I would have to believe in demons... which means I have to believe in some sort of religion. Spiritual possession doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be locked down with religion.

Ok i see what your saying now...thanks for clarifying what you were trying to say. Think ill just leave it at that as that is your personal feelings on that. And i dont want to come off as trying to change that. I can agree with what you had to say, except the part of having to believe in some religion to be able to believe in demons/demon possession. But i think i have already covered that and no need to repeat it.

It was great chatting it up! Party

Okay now I understand what Freddy is trying to say;

He dont believe in exorcisms but he believe in spirit possessions

Yes! exorcism and spirit possession is really different but both of these phenomena really can happen.

Exorcists' task is “to cast out evil spirits” from persons and dwelling houses. while spiritis' task is to help and guide those people who are possessed by spirits, ascended masters and elementals or those people who are in trance.

Many people dont really believe in these phenomena because of lack of education or public information, and no rituals and chants are really proven that can drive out evil spirits from a person who is possessed. But it is okay, those who openly differed from or opposed the generally accepted laws of science or dogmas of religions were either laughed at, ridiculed, or even criticized from the scientific community and religious group. A number of them were even annoyed, hounded and persecuted by the establishment, like what happened Galileo Galilee who said that the sun is the center of the solar system and not the Earth... if you still remember your high school lessons..lol

If I’m not mistaken, it was Alfred North Whitehead who said that: A really new idea appears ridiculous when it is first introduced in scientific and skeptical communities. Note the following examples: When the Wright brothers said that man can create and design a vehicle that can fly, the idea was considered ridiculous. So was Graham Bell’s idea that the human voice could be transmitted and could be heard clearly over long distances through wire or cable.

A smart philosopher (I completely forgot the name because I just read it on a science book)... observed that a new idea undergoes three stages of development: First it is denied, second, it is opposed violently, and third, it is accepted as self-evident truth.

The same thing has happened and is happening in the case of exorcism and spirit possession.

Ooops Sorry for my rant.
