mrbluethe original battle royale 3D?
#1
Nothing is sacred anymore. According to Screen Daily Japanese studio Toei is preparing a 3D version of Kinji Fukasaku’s cult action thriller Battle Royale. Fukasaku’s son, Kenta Fukasaku, is supervising the 2D to 3D conversion in Tokyo through his production company Fukasaku-Gumi. The 3D version of the original will be ready for market screenings in October and released in Japan on November 20th.

You see what happens when you support 3D? Shit like this happens. This is gonna start a whole new trend where everybody has to convert old classic movies into 3D. Hope your happy 3D lovers. If they touch Halloween somebodys gonna get shot-_-

You know the next thing they will be doing pornos in 3D...but that could be interesting. ROFL But then again, not for me, cause i wouldnt want 3D jizz coming at me! LOL In all seriousness though, i totally understand what your saying. And i been wondering if this rash of 3D movies has anything to do with these new 3D televisions thats came out. Its a thought.

I don't see how fake 3D ( post conversion 3D) would work any better on a 3D tv. 3D only works when its done right like with avatar. 3D has gotten out of hand.

If this is what it sounds like, I basically give the same argument many people give in defense of remakes: "the original is still there". Of course the original is still there in the case of remakes, but with remakes you have some mal-intentioned usurper trying to make a "better" (but usually worse) version of a classic. With trying to convert old movies straight to 3D however, it's basically akin to opening an editing software and putting color movies in black and white; nothing's changed but the simplest aesthetics.
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”

Of course the original one is there but its the fact that this is gonna start a whole new 3D trend that's we don't need.

I can see this happening to. Its already trending on some aspects as it is. Has anyone looked into these new 3D tv's? Or seen the demonstration movies of them? There actually very cool televisions/experiences. But if you want the 3D experience the movie has to have the capabilities. Which is why i was wondering if this rash of 3D movies etc. had anything to do with it. Because no ones going to buy these tv's if they have nothing much to choose from to watch on it as far as the 3D experience aspect of it goes. Because basically they just bought an ordinary over priced tv that they could have gotten cheaper without the 3D funzies included. Although i think 3D can be cool and fun, its definitely not something i want to see all the time.

That's my major problem with it. Ever since avatar came out and made over 2 billion dollars it seems like EVERY movie has to be 3D even if its fake and looks like shit. Its one huge money gimmick half the time. And when it comes to the tvs I don't want to wear those big glasses.

LOL yeah i agree its a huge money maker. But you know what? Gimmicks only work for so long before they finally fizzle out. And those that buy them 3d tv sets are gonna see they just basically wasted money. Oh and you can even buy converter kits for your current TVs if you have the specific model to do so and its expensive to. Anything for a buck-a-roonie these days.

I think if studios keep taking the cheaper way of making 3D movies (clash of titans remake) people are gonna stop going to them.

I agree. I actually love 3d horror flicks! I bet Battle Royale would be awesome in 3d! :ack2:

Its not like its a remake. There taking the dvd and converting into 3D. I don't have a single clue how that's gonna be any good whatsoever.

I'd like to see it in theaters, but you know that's not going to happen.

Pretty sure this was going on long before Avatar lol. I personally don't see anything wrong with 3D, I'd much rather see a film in 3D then see a shitty sequel come out, or a shitty remake. Not to say all remakes are horrible, but the vast majority are. Battle Royale is one of my favorite films, and I personally think it'd be awesome to have a 3D version of it. Just like huge fans of certain films want the Director's Cut, The Special Edition, The 500th Anniversary Boxed Set, and yeah you get the picture. I'm all for it. The studios are usually the ones in it for the money, not the creative minds behind it (unless it's Michael Bay) so if all goes according to plan, we both win. They make money, we get entertained. It's a pretty simple cycle, but I guess it doesn't work if you don't like the 3D pictures. Nothing will beat seeing 3D in theaters though. It's really annoying when people watch it at home with their cheap 3D glasses and expect the same experience.

As for the 3D televisions, I'm sure the hope is that everyone catches on to all of this hype over it, and starts making all their films 3D compatible. Not necessarily make the film IN 3D, but allow it to be watched as a normal version, or a 3D version. No biggie.

You mean I finally come back and this is the big discussion? For fucks sake, what is going on with our genre? It is one thing to remake an entire movie and put it in 3-D, but to take a film that is meant to be seen in 2-D and convert it? Is anyone really buying into this?

It is like buying Army of Darkness on Blu-Ray. Yeah it may look a little better, bet guess what? IT IS NOT A TRUE BLU-RAY MOVIE!!! Same for 3-D...

Army of Darkness is a phony blu-ray? What bullshit... I still haven't gotten a Blu player; can you tell me if mockeries like those are common?

And come on; remakes are better than 3D conversion? Sure it's most likely little more than a cashgrab, but those who like the things the process does can buy it for their sake and those who don't can stick with the old versions (which, hell, might be included in new packages). 3D stuff ain't even as bad as colorization to me.

I'm just waiting for The Exorcist in 3D. Wink
